Hi, Has anyone been charged when using their Santander Zero credit card at an ATM in Spain - notably at Cajamar bank ?
The Zero card promises Zero charges for a transaction and a fair/good rate of exchange when used abroad.

I think you will find there is no transaction charges when using the Zero Credit Card on purchases bought with the card but like most Credit Cards you will be charged interest if using it at an ATM. If you use the Santander Current Account Card there are no charges when when taking money out here at a ATM. Thats how both my Zero Credit Card & Current Account Card work here in Spain.
Thanks for you reply. I have used my Zero card here in Spain, and elsewhere, for several years now. As you correctly stated there is no transaction charge for making purchases but there is an interest charge for withdrawing cash from an ATM.. Recently I withdrew cash from an ATM at a local Cajamar Bank - again I've been doing exactly the same thing for a number of years - but this time a message came up advising me that Cajamar will be charging Santander 1,85 for the transaction ,but that my bank (Santander) will not be charging me for the transaction.
However,On viewing my CC statement I find that Santander have in fact charged me the 1,85 (4 different cash withdrawals 4 x 1,85) i.e 100 Eur is 101,85 on my statement. This is the first time this has happened, consequently I am disputing it with Santander. This is a transaction charge and nothing to do with any interest charges. My receipts from the ATM show the amount Actually withdrawn i.e no mention of any transaction charge
I have used ATM's at banks other than Cajamar and no charge has been made for a transaction.

Use a Spanish debit card problem solved.
Nearly all of my local banks are now charging for withdrawals with foreign cards (still one left that doesn't charge!).

Cajamar began displaying the €1.85 charge about 6 weeks ago. I was using my Halifax Clarity card, which makes no charge for using the ATMs here. I disputed this with Cajamar, my Spanish bank, who advised me that it was not they who were charging but Halifax.
When I looked at my Halifax statement the €1.85 was shown in that it indicated I had withdrawn, say, €201.85 euros rather than the €200 euros I had requested.
