Hi could anyone give us an idea of the general utilities costs for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment per month? We are generally out door people so won’t be sitting in with air con blasting away all day & generally not up for cooking a roast every day either lol but just wondered how the costs varied? Daft    question but are all utilities metered? & when are the bills produced monthly? Quarterly? Thankyou in advance

We have a 2 bed 2 bath apartment in SJDLT.

ElectricIty has 2 main elements to the bill, a standing charge based on the maximum load KW that is available at the property and a variable charge based the actual consumption, the second element varies dependent on the tariff you choose. If the apartment requires to be connected there is also a connection charge (around 100 euro) and then IVA (VAT) on top. We have a smart meter that is read remotely and we are billed every 2 months and pay by DD. Through the winter months we have been been charged around 80 - 100 euro per bill.

Water is also metered and is paid via DD every 2 months. We have been averaging 25 - 30 euro per bill.

Remember you will also have regular bills for refuse collection and any management fees for the apartment complex you are living in.

Hi Tony & Sue,

We are with Endessa and pay monthly. Our bill is approx 70/80 a month. What company are you with?

We have just changed to Nordic as our bills went up & up. Sent e mail, they rang, I sent photo of Bill, all done. So far 15€/ month better off.

Currently Endesa but considering moving over to Nordic as they seem very competitive.

Also when will the bills start from?I’m assuming on key handover day which is being done via our solicitor who has POA ?& how & who reads the electricity metre? Sorry for all the questions bob you’ll need a nice glass of red after answering them all lol thankyou in advance

The only bills we have had this year from the town hall are for refuse collection, these are quarterly and have been around 36 euros per quarter.

The IBI (council tax equivalent) is payable in November for the whole and based on the cadastral value of the property. Due to timing of our purchase (mid way in this year) we have not had to pay this yet.

If you are non resident there is also non-resident "income" tax again based on the cadastral value again this is payable once a year in December. Again we did not have to pay this for the first part year of ownership.

We are waiting to get confirmation of these amounts.

We are based in Mar Tirreno development.

Hi

Solicitor should arrange everything so long as he has all your details incl. Bank Acct & address. Payments just disappear from your accoint.

On our 2 properties our Solicitor forgot the IBI. With Endesa we never had a paper.bill after the first year & with Galasa we only had paper bills for first year. With Nordic, from Day 1 it is by monthly e mail. Everything is in English & they are one phone call away. They also take via our Bank Card as most of our payments are to Offshore Bank.

Hope that helps.

Hi

Our IBI was around 140 euros . We paid this at an allocated bank . You cannot pay it at all banks . Also the non residents tax was around 40 euro fir the year . If the house is in joint names you pay half each person .

We had someone work out our non res tax and it cost us 30 euro. Still a lot cheaper than uk council tax!
