Hello, Ive been reading this forum and lurking in the background for a little while. Its been a great source of information so thankyou all for that.

I’m planning to arrive in June 2020, and will be looking to rent for 6 to 12 months while I decide where to buy and settle. I plan to apply for Residencia on arrival so will need a rental contract I think, perhaps all you lovely people can advise me further on that front.

All being equal, I would have left it another year or two before I made the move, but the withdrawal agreement has at least given me an opportunity to try and achieve my  planned retirement, so I guess i should be grateful for that.

I’m selling my uk property {plan to put it in our local auction in May, eek} and I’m just going to do my best to fulfill whatever requirements are in force when I get to apply. I feel its all or nothing so i have to do my best to make it happen before this window closes. I’m fortunate that I have a private pension I can draw immediately which will, hopefully, just about fulfill the income requirements, and hopefully the sale of my little place here will just about fund an apartment by the sea around san huan  de los Terreros, Mojacar or the surrounding areas.

No doubt I’ll  be bothering you for all sorts of info going forward, but for now I wanted to introduce myself and Thank you all for contributing to this forum. Ive messaged a couple of people who have mentioned they have property to rent, but if anyone else has a 2 bed coastal apartment they would like to rent from June 2020, I’d love to hear from you.

All the very best, Beannie

Thankyou both for taking the time to reply, its much appreciated.

I can hardy believe how things have changed since I posted the message above. I spent a couple of hours on our local beach today, cold and blowy though it is with a keen easterly wind, I feel compelled to go whilst I can, as I suspect our beaches will also be closed within the week.

Ive been following the news in Spain and posts on this forum, and getting used to the idea that my plans may actually be scuppered, and Ive come to realise I must simply sit with the uncertainty, and see where we come to.

Nevertheless, I feel lucky to have a roof over my head and spring in the air, even if I doubt I’ll be allowed to spend much of it where I would wish. My working life has also changed immeasurably over the last 10 days. I run an older persons cabaret club service, and as such I have a large guest database of older and vulnerable people in my local area. The club is, of course, closed now, and I’m gearing up to provide a lifeline type service to my guests if things really do become as bad as we are starting to fear they might.

Strange times indeed, and who knows where we shall be when they pass. The rental and property markets will be different thats for sure, the auction which I had planned to sell my uk home in looks to be dust in the breeze, who’s gonna be buying in the midst of this I wonder.

See you all somewhere for a glass in the sun one day.

Beannie

Hi Beannie

I can not talk for others, but i do not complain.

Of course everybody cancelled for april/may but so far nothing for july/august. But that will not last i think.

Like i was teached and learned in my professional life in Belgium, always have a backup plan and financial reserves.

So yes it is a pitty, but no disaster.

Hi Beannie

Keep safe.  Thats whats important right now, the rest will all sort itself out.

Everything! Happens for a reason, even though we cant always see it right at the moment.

I am sure you will sell your Uk home, and will get the come and live the dream.  It will just take a little longer.

We will all be  here when the time is right.

Take care of you all and stay safe....
