Can someone please tell me why oh why do people insist on taking their dogs out with them everywhere???

It’s worse than having unmannerly children at the next table.

When we arrived here from Ireland, 3 years ago I was absolutely gobsmacked by the amount of dogs, both in restaurants and anywhere else, I'd never seen so many dogs. I'm sure there are lots of them in Ireland just not in restaurants or shops unless they are trained special needs dogs.

Somehow over time we have just had to accept that there seems to be more dogs here than people! But funnily enough they are owned mostly by British people. I admire you for posting, a lot of people get very touchy about their dogs. We have also learned to avoid restaurants with dogs in there. ( yes it's hard to do)

Why would you avoid restaurants with dogs? Most dogs are clean and well behaved whilst with their owners. Unlike children who are generally snotty, crying, noisy and/or running around the place annoying the other diners.

And remember Hitler, Starlin, fat boy Kim were all children once and look how they turned out!

It never ceases to amaze me how a lot of ex-pats judged each other on the amount of rescue dogs they have. I see older people struggling to walk dogs and wonder what would happen to these animals when the old codger pops his/her clogs…..whose going to pick up from there???

But I will say again, there is absolutely no need to bring a dog or dogs to a restaurant especially when said dogs must walk though the restaurant to get to an outside space 😩😩😩😩.

We had dogs when we were younger so I am not anti animals. Never once though did we even contemplate taking them out for lunch 🤣🤣🤣

You answered your own question there Doris. I believe (as you do) most dogs are clean. The word "most" is the important word and you didn't use "all" so the answer is within your question. Some dogs are unclean (probably caused by their unclean owners). But, try telling them that!!!

For the record (again):- I'll be in Spain shortly for my usual annual few weeks R & R and I know one of the assistant mayors of Mojacar. I'll have a few words with him to start the ball rolling regarding unwanted canine presence in bars/restaurants and on their terraces. This thread just reminded me of what some of us can get done. Thanks to all. Now for the cats . . .

I seem to remember that you (Basil) allowed a dog in your dining room because the owner paid extra and then it bit Manuel. 😂😂😂

Hi Doris, I choose to avoid restaurants with dogs as I do not believe dogs need to be in there. I grew up with dogs cats and incidentally noisy, snotty crying children😂. I'm still of a mind that I much prefer children to animals. 😇.
