All the info you require is on the uk government website we have look in to this and found this is the best place. Don't forget thay tax you more in Spain on all you're world income which is why we decided to stay in UK. We'll rent and just stay as and when. Best of luck hope it works out for you...

.....

Not entirely true. Drawdown from a Sipp, and some annuities are taxed more favourably in Spain compared to the uk, as examples. Iht, particularly in Andalucia is treated more favourable than the uk.

It’s best always to take advice from someone who knows both tax regimes.

Hi, we've started the process of applying for a NLV on Government pensions, (not old age) Suggest you get get good legal representation. Some of the advice on here is good but others clearly haven't got a clue. Don't get worried about some of the ridiculous sums being quoted here. Good luck

So “others Clearly haven’t got a clue.”. Really.  Well, obviously YOU HAVE A CLUE so, “ridiculous sums”  How’s about sharing the Correct sums.   Everything on this post is based on whatever we have heard ourselves.   So feel free to correct us.   Info on here is supposed to help others.

Please explain the ridiculous sums you mentioned. It’s well documented what the  income requirements are. Maybe it’s you that doesn’t have a clue?

Here we go. I'm referring to the amount quoted for applying after the first year and so on. Just because you have £34,000 in saving does not mean that you have to double that to be able to reapply for 2 years and so on. You need to show consistency with your finance that you originally applied for and show that that it can be maintained over the next 2 year period. As already pointed out Your property is not included but helps by showing that you have a place to live and are not relying on having to rent. I am fully aware of what this site is for having had great advice on various topics over the past by members. So if our solicitor has got it all wrong on the above (recommended a while back on this site) we'll sack her and take learned advice from yourself.

Your post still does t make sense.   Originally I said  you need the €32,000. for the first year , so ,why doesn’t it make sense to have to prove you have double that when applying for the next two years where someone said €64,000.  so adding the €32,000 you would be “making out “ you will be earning every year?   and the “same money” €64,000 for the last two years.  The requirements are €32,000 Per year, Income.   so where are we wrong. So, if someone isn’t pulling in €32,000 per year ,but has savings of €64,000. how do they , as you say

“ You need to show consistency with your finance that you originally applied for and show that that it can be maintained over the next 2 year period. “

Show consistency ?   Please do not be so insulting to me or others here   We all genuinely want to know these Facts you supposedly have  . OH and your lawyer wouldn’t be the first one to Not have a clue

Idiots because the vote affected you? In what way?

If you're a resident here then why does it  affect you. I voted in favour of brexit even though I was going to be a resident in spain as I believe it is the correct option for the UK. Not to be governed from afar.

So think about the British people who have no wish to live in a foreign country as we do, and believe (thats the majority believe) that out of Europe is the best way forward.

Having to complete a few more forms so what!!

The stipulation that you have to have a certain amount of money in reserve is to protect  themselves from hangers on. I do however agree that the amount is unjustified, compared to the  average wage in the vast majority of  Spain. But as with everything else in life, if you can't afford it you make sacrifices to make it  happen if you really want it.

My personal opinion anyway.

Well said Gary.  I very much doubt that the 17.3 million who voted to leave had any intention of moving to Spain or elsewhere for that matter.  Their wish to leave the EU does not make them idiots.  I would be very surprise if the BREXIT decision affects even 0.01% of those who bothered to vote, one way or the other.

Personal tax allowance is higher in the uk, but many things, as I have indicated are taxed differently and/or more favourably in Spain. Also the equivalent of council tax is far lower etc..
