This thread has got out of hand and lost the point, the point isn;t whether we approve of campervans or not, its a case of are they breaking the law. By travelling around they are breaking the law, by parking or camping under a sign that says, 'no overnight stays' they are breaking the law. We have lots of new laws and restrictions placed upon us at the moment, which we ALL should be adhering to. Just because they are in a campervan and 'use local shops'!!! doesn't give them an excuse to flaunt these restrictions, Can any campervan owner that is reading this please tell me, how and when did you arrive in Spain,? have you been told by the Guardia that you can park where you are and are not allowed to travel back home. Personally I am not normally concerned about where campers park, but with the situation we are in at the moment I am.
I am interested to hear about the break ins mentioned. That’s what puts me off a motorhome . I think ,on here, it doesn’t really matter what the op is it always gets hijacked lol but it makes it interesting as you find out a lot of various things.

I got broke in driving thru Madrid a few years ago , I was shattered driving back to almeria , so I stoped at a place all lorry drivers stop at and a restaurant that was open 24 hrs ..I had brought back a tv 55 inch from uk tyres and other stuff . I seen a little light ( my wife was fast asleep) and I jumped up the tv and tyres were around my bed blocking me in I did not want to kick the tv so I jumped up and a man was in my camper van looking in the cupboard I shouted he run I jumped up got outside he was gone I looked under the lorries etc but could not see anyone , then a car pulled out with 3/4 men in it I woke up my wife and said we best go he had seen we had stuff in the camper van so I drove for about 40 mins then broke down it was pitch dark , lucky the police stopped and jumped started me ( alternator ) gone they drive me to a garage ( by the police station)and said it’s opens at 8 in the morning they will fix it and they did for 600 euros yes got caught there but had no choice .. got it fixed and drive home I then alarmed all the doors windows etc extra locks on doors and bolts .. another thing they do is send women to flag you down then 3/4 men jump out heard loads of stories best stay on a camp site they stole a Apple lap top first aid kit my sat nav lucky I hid my wife’s hand bag by are bed ...
I'm getting inspiration on this thread which could prove to be financially beneficial. I could buy a motorhome and drive around Arboleas, Palomares, etc etc. At the same time we could rent out the apartment.
1. Financial Gain.
2. Get to know different areas while staying overnight or more in the motor-home and we could make new friends too.
I'm wondering how I didn't think of this before.

are they? if they are staying in the same municipality??
are campsites 'open' for new people at the moment?
also you wrote

are they staying overnight?have you been down to check?
surely to accuse someone of breaking the law you need proof

Then can you tell me please Rach2772, are you sitting in a car park now, or on a site????
I'm sitting in a house working, am on the Padron and have paid my basura tax etc. etc. - my camper can't be matriculated so it's been shipped back to the UK. I'm fully paid up on all scores don't worry!

I'm probably not representative of your question, but we arrived in October, with no lock downs underway, moved into our Cortijo and parked the campervan in the yard. Very useful for the many (sofar) weeks of rebuilding the house, with no bedrooms available in the house.

In general, there is very little crime, my only experience was actually In UK where I met a couple who'd had a break in. By reading reviews, talking to fellow travellers, you are as safe as anywhere by being sensible and proactive. Nearest to a fright was an Ibex running into the van at Calnegre!

SveinB, I have had a campervan for many years, I only sold it 2 years ago, I ALWAYS stayed in proper campsites and paid the dues, as for seeing the world, I have probably seen and lived in more of it than you ever will.
Good for you Jenni, variety enhances life.
Last time I checked (about 10 years ago) I had 103 countries 'checked'. Still many to go, but need wings on my Challenger now... Nite nite
