DEFINTELY RENT for at least 6 months or at least one winter in your preferred location. Get to know the area and the neighbours and they will tell you if it is too cold for you in the winter etc etc. Renting here is always money well spent. If you do not like Oria then you can move to another warmer (or not) location virtually hassle free whereas tipping your life savings into a property then trying to sell again can be VERY expensive and problematic.

Food for thought?

Albox area is certainly warmer on average than up near Oria.

Hi Beth

The last response you got regarding renting is the best you will ever get, we live on the Rambler de Oria north of albox and it is much warmer than over the hill in Oria. Renting is not expensive and will give you a true feel for the area. Take great care where you take advice, there are many out there who just want your money!! Only deal with the larger agents to start with until you know more about the area etc.

Thank you so much for your reply ,we are taking it very slow (bit to slow for me):-( Please could you tell me a bit about the local markets can anyone buy a pitch to sell there crafts?

What are the rules ?

Do you need a license?

If so where do you get one from ?

Hobbies are great but more rewarding when acknowledged :-)

Regards

Beth :-)

Hi Beth

The Saturday market between Albox and Arborleas is the best for what you need, €5 for the pitch each Saturday but you would not get an allocated spot until someone packs in. however you just pitch where ever there is a space. It is worth going and having a look round when you are over and speak to some of the many british traders. Other than this there are the normal markets which move around (Albox on Tuesdays) best to speak to the traders, the majority are Spanish though.

Friends of ours needed to sell in Oria as they couldn't afford the heating costs in Winter. Sorry, but don't feel Albox is that much warmer, and with the housing market still very much in the doldrums why not look at the coast? We have an inland property & an apartment in Mojacar and you can guess which.one we over Winter at most of the time. Best of luck & don't rush. Lots of people looking.for newbee victims.

Hello what you call cold in UK and what we call cold here are two different things we have the heating on at nights but it is still in double figures temperature wise ,it just feels cold as it is warmer through the day ,it actually has been in single figures at times at night but you wont see frost, overall its far warmer than the UK day and night ,I live just out side Cantoria (close to ORIA and ALBOX )
