Its not cheaper if you are a resident. especially if you have a house here and a house in the UK, for me its the peace of mind, I am going back to a system I understand, where I can argue my case in my own language if needs be, I have just spent a week in the UK and was surprised, if you buy sens...

The best he could find was the same phone no case no guarantee for 145 euro's. The red tape since Bretix if enough to send anyone running for the hills.

I agree, it is possibly to shop wisely with  lots of choice.  Everything also seems so much easier as no language barrier or complicated bureaucracy. I do love Spain, the Spanish lifestyle and the beautiful scenery and sunny weather.

I agree Maggie but after 12 years, I have had enough sun LOL, and looking forward to some cold and rain. We have enjoyed our time here, but enough of a good thing. have a good day.

Yes I know what you mean.  We too are spending more time in the UK.

It’s what my solicitor sent me as she does the tax ( I am not pension age ) but she stated that it since brexit the tax calculation has changed . I know it’s cheaper than council tax in U.K. , but our plan in 2018 when we bought house was to get residency & retire but my husband passed aw...

...ay sept 2018 , so now it is too expensive to get residency or a non lucrative visa , as I don’t have any income until I become of pension age

Gracious! Using a solicitor to calculate the Non-Resident tax sounds expensive. I take the previous year’s calculations to a Gestoría who prints out the current year’s invoice which I take to the bank. No need for an appointment. E20. Job done. We used to calculate our own years ago but it was very complicated so the E20 charge is well worth it. Our calculation hasn’t changed for a few years now.

There should be one in every decent sized pueblo. He acts like a Registrar. There are 2 villages near me (Costacabana, Almería) and each has their own. I would suggest going on the internet to search for ‘a Gestoría near me’. Good luck.

I’d like to add a little more to my information about the Gestoría if I may. The E20 is just his fee. That’s what he asks for, and has done so for a few years now. He prints out a form with the costings, the invoice, gives me a receipt for the E20 and I go to the bank with the invoice to pay it. Make sure the cashier stamps the invoice as proof of payment. However, whereas I take the previous year’s invoice as a basis for doing the calculations for the curryear, from what you are saying, you may be paying too much? In which case, I suggest you start from scratch and take with you the latest rates/valuation calculation that you receive from the Ayuntamiento and let the Gestoría work it out afresh.

For my Non Residents tax I used a company for many years called http://spanishtaxforms.co.uk

They are based in the UK and charge around £35 for a couple. I am now a Spanish resident so I don't need them anymore but I can certainly recommend them.
