Albox has Lidls, Mercadona, soon an Aldi and others plus many small shops so can get everything you need but if want a day out then Lorca is an option or even Almeria just over an hour away where you'll find Primarks, Carrefour etc...

Thank you.All the comments are very encouraging.

One thing i havent asked is if you want a day out shopping where would you go.

There are plenty of small supermarkets in Oria even a Carafour.  I normal go into Albox even 2 weeks as there are, mercadona, lidl and in the near future an Aldi.  There are also 3 English shops for the odd things you normally cannot get.  If you have not been to Albox it is a large town were you can get everything.  It is about 25 minutes from Oria and there is also Olula del rio, we're there is a mercadona and another Spanish supermarket almost opposite.  There is an Iceland at Vera, but that is not cheap.  The prices in Oria shops are very good, they do try to keep the prices down as do the bars.

We have lived in the outskirts of Oria for more  than 20 years, it s safe it’s friendly and the scenery is outstanding. The air is clean, and we don’t suffer from the horrible humidity, nearer the coast.

Hi Clive, like everywhere in the world no one can say somewhere is 100% safe but to be honest most places (exceptions usually large cities) especially away from coast are very safe.  Whether male or female you won't get that unsafe feeling when walking at 2am in the morning or wandering the ...

...hills during the day alone.  People are very friendly and most will smile and say hello unlike back in the UK.  Plenty of walks and places to cycle but it is hilly.  Banks, pharmacy, supermarkets (small), bars, PO, Dr's, bread/cake shop, police station, summer outside pool, animal feed stores, hardware store, garages etc. but pretty much no public transport as is typical in villages here.

Hope that helps a little, I'd advise coming to see for yourself as there are short term rentals on AirBnB, Booking.com

Andy

Sorry to disagree on your comment people are friendly unlike in the uk . I live in a lovely rural community in south of England . What a sweeping comment . I think you get back what you give in this life . We have a great caring community . People are friendly and helpful . I think if you just make eye contact and a nod of the head or a good morning most people respond with the same . Do you think uk people act differently because they live in a different country . Don’t think so .
