Hi can any one give me any info how long applying for residency takes, as my solicitor applied on my behalf back in October 2020 still waiting to hear !! been told there is a back log of applications any one else in the same situation?

Yes I’m still waiting. I’ve originally applied in Sep/2020 and got A reply in November saying I’ve been rejected! My solicitor told they needed “more” proofs of funds to live here! The solicitor herself was very surprised because other people in exact same situation had it approved. I’m a British citizen, moved in BEFORE Brexit and am UK pensioner. No reason to be rejected! So we re applied beginning of Dec/2020 showing more funds and still waiting. She says it has been taking about 3 months for most people now. Fingers crossed . I’m getting very stressed with this.

Oh also I have the link where you put your NIE, date of birth and date of application and the system replies . Mine keeps saying “en trâmite” which means “in process”. It clearly says in the original document they send when you apply, that by law it shouldn’t take more than 3 months!

My wife and I have used a gestoria recommended to us in Aguilas though we live in Los Lobos. He applied on the 9th November 2020 and we got an appointment in Almeria for the 2nd of February 2021. Our next door neighbor applied four weeks before us and is still waiting. We only had to show £9,000 in a spanish bank, he had to show money in England, £9,000 in his spanish bank and have twelve months worth of english bank statements translated into spanish. I am convinced that it all depends who picks up your application at the Foreign Office to what they want from you and not from a standardized list of evidence. Even when we went to Almeria  for the finger printing, my wife was not asked for anything, yet I had to produce all the paperwork that they had obviously already had. Two people, two different ways.

HI Marcioca

Thank you for your reply ,yes it is stressful ,I also had my application rejected in November and reapplied in December, because apparently the letter from the bank was in figures for the amount not in words !! seems very petty so now have to wait again .

Hi Roseand, oh so you were rejected too?  there must be someone (or a few new people) in Almeria rejecting applications for silly things like that! My solicitor told us they thought it was very strange when my husband got it and I didn’t!  Anyway, we in the same situation. Have you tried the link to find out how the process is going? You send with your NIE Number and etc and the reply comes immediately- In process

Hi Roseland

Mine is still In Process too. My abogada is Angela Morales in Mojacar. However, we never ever speak to her personally, it’s always the paralegal assistant who deals with us! Always.

Yes, let me know when you hear anything.

😀
