Hi Alicia

Yes I have heard of things like that ( free oranges and etc) that is why it really doesn’t make sense, how can they explain oranges being expensive in the supermarkets and also there’s only ONE type? How can we get many varieties in uk? It’s bizarre isn’t it? But hey, I’ll survive hahah...

...a I will probably end up planting an orange tree in my garden!!

good idea you'll find growing your own easy.  don't try to eat the oranges on the trees on the streets as they are bitter, we would make marmalade from them.

Garrucha market was on this week, and will be next week unless anything changes, has great fruit and veg, as does Villaricos. Regarding oranges specifically, they are out of season for just about 3 months locally, and should be plentiful and local again by Christmas.

I shop in Garrucha market and make a beeline first for a couple of small stalls who sell everything from their own land, you can tell because they will have half a dozen plastic bottles of oil, half a dozen of wine, few jars of honey or marmalade and a small selection of whatever they've picked t...

...his week, plus perhaps a basket of eggs.

After that, I head to one of the bigger stalls for everything else! The coop backstreet shop in Garrucha also gets my vote

Hey thanks!!! Yes we will go to Garucha next week, it is on Friday right?

and also thanks for explaining about oranges! There had to be a reason!

Living here has been great, I am learning so much all the time!

And I will try the local producers if I find them, sounds the type of thing I like!

Yes you will find it's pretty much you get fruit and veg in season and not the tasteless cold store stuff that you have from Tesco.

Yeah that’s true!

I have loads of fruit and veg now thanks to the street market in Villaricos and also I have pomegranates galore in my garden! Very lucky!

Looking forward to buy a few extra things on Friday In Garrucha.
