Has anyone used a car hire company that is honest!

My last hire was from Goldcar at Alicante airport. The car was fine and they agreed I did not have to take the extra insurance to cover their excess (I have a annual policy for this) but they said they would "block" €1,300 from my credit card which was fine with me.

However they took the money and after the car was returned undamaged and full with fuel the refunded they made a few days later when I was back in UK was €59 less than they took.

I have emailed asking why but - no reply....

Have other people had similar experiences?

Hi

We have just hired a car from Goldcar and it had a bump on the bumper but we wasnt concerned because it was marked on our agreement.  When we took the car back they charged us for the same damage and after several emails they still took the money and wouldn't refer to the agreement with the marked damage. So we will not be using Goldcar again and need a good relable carhire company as well.

Yes we had the same experience as you with them in March.We had our own excess insurance.  They blocked us the 1300 euros and we returned the car in perfect condition and full of fuel.  We had booked the car through Holiday Autos and when Goldcar did not return all our money back, we contacted Holiday Autos on line and after various emails Holiday Autos finally got the mone back into our account today.

Look at the English Daily Mail on line they are running a campaign to force MPs to do something about this.  Don't give up.

The more people that relate their experiences the better.

Yes thats sounds good we will. We booked ours through doyouspain and we contacted them but they havent responded and because Goldcar have taken the money from our credit card even though we were disputing it we cant see ourselves getting it back now. We are glad you have received yours back though thats good news.
