Hola Chicos,

Has anyone, in the areas around  Mojacar received a bill from Endessa lately. I have not recieved a bill since signing for my property in Feberuary. Our solicitor had it all set up with Endesa for the day of signiong - CUPS and the whole nine yards at the time of purchase to be cahnge inot our name.. We have yet to receive a bill and have asked our lawyer to look into it for us.

We were informed that there is a IT problem with their billings systems. They have been trying to fix it and are aware that some people have not received a bill for over a year.

They have told our lawyer that when it is fixed we will have a few optopns for paying the arrears.

1. Full payment when it's sorted - problem this could be quite high and earmarking a sum to save could possibly difficult and may not be of a  sufficent amount.

2. Payment in instalments- problem they have not indicated how big or small the instalments will be.Nor the length of time over whihc you can pay thee instalments.

3. Pay the arrears with the monthly bills. problem The arreas will be divded up somwehow and added to the bills you receive over an unspecficied lenght of time. To me this is could just a moving target. Budgeting for this monthly/bi/quater again a nightmare.

There is also the question of will there be  any interest on the arrears if any  and what what about IVA? Would be a bit cheeky to charge interest while they are faffing about.

One solution that soemone suggeted was calling ¡Si!Compareand changing suppliers.

I have my reservations about them and heres why.

A. I checked thier website over 2 years ago  and saw this message-

Due to a number of price changes, we are performing an update with our online comparison, please upload a copy of your latest bill for the latest market comparison. On checking today I saw the same message.. HHHMMM Ok possible but surely they could show links to sites where you can compare yourself. So two years ago I sent them my latest bill  via the online form. The next day I received a phone call saying that they have found me a better deal with Gana Energia. They said that Gana offers a deal to ¡Si!Compare exclusively for cleints who use them only. It's is not available to customers who use the online site of Gana. HHHMMM B. When I asked about the comparisions they made to determine this 'bettere deal' I really did not recive a straight answer other than trust me this is the best deal out there.Red Flag? maybe C.  All fo the comparion pages ask for your conatct details but offer no actual pricees ,f or any type of insurance. Now I am aware that Insurace companies love moving the goal posts when it comes to quotes prices ans what suits Peter may not suit Paulinia but most insurances have some basic starting cahrges that give you an idea of the costs .The last thing I want is getting phone calls from what could be basically a sales person for ¡Si!Compare. I am aware that they are loved by the Englsih speaking community. for just that they speak English. That being said though I use Salus for my Health.,  Zurich for my car and RACE as a back up for car trouble ( I once needed a windsheild replaced and found that my car insurance comapny called RACE to d othe deed so easier to go to them thne through car insurance maybe?). Any time I have had dealing with any of them, over the phone I had no difficulties with them putting me thru to an English speaking agent.  So my questions are 1. Endessa whats the story? Anyone else hear the above about the IT issue? 2. Can I change electricity suppliers while being in arrears to Endesa?  My Spanish is OK enogh to do this online via the suppliers webstie. 3. ¡Si!Compare legit or just a front for insurances companies. Thanks for taking the time to read this (if you did)

we had a series of bills for the same periods of which they only took the payment for the lower amounts so happy with that, we also had an email stating that we were getting a free month , not sure when that happened,  we are on their happy tariff and so far have received bills ok except at the start they were charging us for a service we did not know they had signed us up for for insurance of electric systems and lighting so we had to stop that.

Before we were with Fenia Energia and went 6 months without a bill which they said was because Endesa had not read the meters!  Changed to endesa and got bills straight away.

Si compare are excellent.  We switched from Endesa and saved money.  They also helped to sort our problems with Endesa when we didn't receive some bills.  It is very easy to switch.

Our solicitor set us up with endesa. After a couple of months we got no bills. Got on to James at si compare and now we are with Gana. Had no problem this last couple of years and James always keeps me up to date so I would email him.

I share your reservations as well re Sí Compare.

I went through the exercise of doing a comparison just to see if I could get a better deal than the one I was on.  Sent in a bill, and they recommended Gana Energía, but didn’t tell me what the actual cost benefit / savings would be.  They were also a little evasive when I asked what companies they had compared / checked against.

I did my own online comparison on one of the Spanish sites and found that I was better off staying with Iberdrola because of the variety of different plans they offered - Gana Energía couldn’t match them.

This is hardly surprising as Iberdrola are the main retailer - the other companies have to buy electricity from them and then onsell it with a markup to make a profit.

As to whether you can shift with a debt owing - no, you can’t.  The company to whom the debt is owed will not release the account to the new provider until the debt is paid.

Yes I thought as much about ¡Si!Compare something not right when speaking to them. My Bulldinky dector was rigning in the background. When I spoke with some woman whos name excapes me at the mo and then James they seemed too sweet to be wholesome. ''This is the best deal out there not the best deal for me 'the best out there''

Now this is not to slight the others who praise their service just not my glass of guinness you could say.

It is also esay to go with someone who seems to do the work for you. It can be a little tricky trying to find the best Electricty deals using the supliers websites.

If you do switch the good thing about it is you sign up 'with no permanence' so you change as you like.

As for Iberdrola when we bought our cave we took over the contact forom the previous owers. When we went to change the contract at one of thier offices the rep there said we had a great deal and it was no longer offered so we got lucky.

We tried to add the property in Mojacar when we bought one but they told us we could not but did not say why.

When we sold our cave we aasked could we tranfer the account and deal to here in Mojacar but again no joy with no explanations.

So the plan I guess is to sock away some spondulicks in the sa phóca and hide the strides in the back of closet unil the bill comes in

AND then switch

Thanks to all who replied.

I’ve found the phone support for Iberdrola to be brilliant.

The shops are I think franchises, and like many other professions in Spain, they will often … “be inventive and circular” … with the truth when they don’t know something - rather than saying “I don’t know but I’ll find out” - I think it is an ego mindset of wanting to appear to know more than the customer.  This is a mindset seemingly prevalent amongst solicitors who when outside their area of expertise (e.g. using solicitors from house purchase for migration issues …) will tell you what they think you want to hear, rather than say “I don’t know”

I’m on the Iberdrola “Choose 8 hours” plan at home and “business plan” in the studio and bills are reasonable.  Summer has been heavy with lots and lots of fan / air conditioner use and August cost me 83€ for a two bedroom / two bathroom apartment with two people, no gas all electric.
