Hi everyone!

Myself and my partner we plan to move to Mojacar as we were following in love with the beautiful cost line. I’m hopping for some directions as we would like to buy a home and potentially to open a business in hospitality.

Thank you ,

Can I suggest you invest about 100 euros in a consultation with a Spanish Immigration lawyer. In my experience its money well spent to get accurate, current advice based on your personal circumstances. Especially important since Brexit.

Probably best to Google it, I'd just say avoid the ones that call themselves "consultants" or any variation of that. You want one that's a genuine lawyer.

I'd also consider one in Barcelona or Madrid who have probably more volume of successful applications with immigration than smaller regional lawyers. Their reputation can have an impact at the immigration office I think But its that experience that counts.

They also have offers to take the cost of your first discussion from their fee, if you appoint them, plus ones that won't charge extra if you need to appeal a decision by immigration, so its well worth researching their websites to get a really good feel if they fit what you are looking for. Its a unique system with variations depending on the visa you might qualify for so getting solid advice from the beginning and not hearsay or anecdotal advice will give you clarity and focus. Less stress and more success. Good luck!

I also concur. Used Maria and Esther for house sale and purchase, residency and registering health certification (S1). Professional and trustworthy.

I *can* tell you that if you are UK Passport holders, you will require a Work Permit if you wish to open a business.  This is a different process than an NLV (which permits only residency, not work) and you will need a solid business plan to make the application.  Depending on what business you are planning on opening, you may also require letters of intent from prospective clients, but Mundi would better be able to guide you on that.

If / when you do contact a migration specialist, be sure to say you intend opening your own business as that will make a great deal of difference in the advice they provide and the documentation required

Absolutely agree, and that was my reason for encouraging you to speak to a really good Immigration lawyer who could develop a unique understanding of your needs.

As the writer explained perfectly, this is an entirely different landscape from simply buying a property and the intention to run a business here, especially post Brexit.

I also fully agree that you will find that you will need to support your ambitions with a viable Business Plan, proof of funding etc.

This is why I would encourage you to at least include a consultation with a large City Law Firm who have substantial experience and are able to give you reassuring advice, even if you decide to engage a local lawyer eventually for whatever reason.

I would suggest that you owe it to yourself to be really well informed to make good choices.
