Ireland has also shut all restaurants.

Please do not have a go at any government or person on here.
As I have a son in both the Republic of Ireland and in England. I worry equally about both.
Strict measures need to be in place and hopefully every government will rise to the task. But this is a time for World Unity not politics and dislike. Let's all work together and be there for each other.

Seems a few on here support the UK Prime Minister on how he is dealing with the crisis, so I suppose those same people will be catching a plane to the UK as soon as possible?
Where is the logic in that statement?
My main thrust of this thread had been the unnecessary delay in Mr Johnson closing schools in the UK due to Covid-19. He has started the process to close the schools although many have already self closed.
I think it is time to close the thread now.
For those who supported my opinions, please accept my thanks, I appreciated the support each time. For those who didn't, no problem either. You are entitled to your opinions.

Without being political the two countries who have failed to adequately respond to the emerging situation were the USA and the UK. The UK now seem to be trying to catch up but have lost precious time. Keeping pubs and restaurants open seems to be a negative step and currently per capita Ireland is testing at 6 times the rate of the UK. London is a hot spot but the government have decided they don’t want to restrict movement- again it seems foolhardy. The idea of the restrictions are to slow down the spread to allow the NHS time but the steps are often too late and incomplete. The only political thing I will say is that Donal Trump gave himself a 10 for his handling of the crisis but I assume that is out of 100 though he probably wouldn’t agree

I think Trumps quote on the Coronavirus says all that needs said about him
“People are dying that haven’t died before”
Such an articulate and deep soul
Anybody on here that claims to know what should or shouldn't be done by the UK Government is deluded and full of their own self importance (and I don't vote for any party). The basic fact is that this is completely unknown territory with a new virus - nobody can have all the answers. It's not rocket science, I'm pretty sure the UK Government has to look at the much bigger picture and the knock on effect of closing too soon. As has been said many times by sensible people - patience. And in the meantime we do what we can.

On a lighter note..I've spent a long time reading through this thread and one person stands out..Bill.
Bill, your story of Laho really touched me. Perhaps when this is all over we could meet for coffee. Don't be alarmed, I will bring my husband and two dogs along 😊 Perhaps Matthew could join us..I think him and my husband would get on well.
And please everyone, don't be horrible to me. Too many people are just being...well..just horrible to each other.
Take care

Now here's an interesting take on the virus:
Very much 'James Bond' but who would doubt them?
