But in Ireland there is no chance it's going to gett to 40c in August
We're lucky to have temps of 4 degrees never mind 40.

Hi all,
Could people please let me know what Mojacar and surrounding areas are like in the winter months, are there bars and restaurants open or does it wind down and if so when does it all start back up again. Thanks in advance.
Hiya
We have only been here 6 months so I can only tell you our experience with lovely Mojacar (our reason to move here) for this period.
Without Covid restrictions it must be really nice here. Even with all the restrictions on and off these past six months, I can se how nice it is to be around Mojacar Playa. Some places like Parque Commercial, a sweet open centro comercial, seems to have most shops and bars open throughout the winter. There are some places that are seasonal I am sure but there is a lovely feeling always in Mojacar Playa because of the constant sunshine- almost every day.
Most hotels seem to be seasonal. But in general what we hear from people who have been here for years is, they rather be here in the winter than in the U.K..
Without the pandemic, in future, we will probably spend up till December Christmas and New Year here as weather is still very nice and many warm days! Then maybe go to relatives in Brazil or Florida part of winter- God willing... if we can’t do that , having spent the whole winter here (because of lockdowns everywhere)I can se it is not that bad at all. We get a lot of blue skies often and places to eat and drink.

matthew it has been one of the coldest Februarys we have had for a long time and our shorts haven't been out of the cupboard for a while now. Certainly not seen any swimmers except those in wet suits doing the surfing or wind surfing. Not even seen the regulars in Garrucha who normall...

...y swim most of the year. We have even used out central heating most afternoons and evenings and the electric blanket is still on the bed! Roll on Easter and the warmer days. Our pool isn't due to open until June that's if it is allowed with Covid regulations again. Had no indoor pool all through the winter because of Covid regs.
I am disappointed to read your weather report Alicia. We are in the UK and have kept a close eye on what we thought we were missing since around last October, with Mojacar forecasts suggesting temperatures rarely dipping below 15C (except in the evenings) and rain only occasional.

Of course it has been cold especially this February and people say it is normally warmer than this.
However, we have had many many more sunny days than U.K. this time of the year and I even manage to sunbathe on my roof terrace various times. March has been better. But still is better than U.K. DEFINITELY as I speak to my son every day and we compre the weather Brighton versus Mojacar.

the weather forecasts here have been so of the mark that we now just look out of the window and check the temperature before we venture out. The worse thing has been icy cold winds in the afternoon which have kept us of our balcony and indoors most days. but it is much better than the UK.
