Hi I am looking to move to mojacar surrounding area very soon it would be great if there where any jobs available.  I am currently working at home as an administrator but cannot do this when I move to spain for my current company.  I am a very experienced administrator with excellent computer skills.  Can adjust to lots of systems and have many years of purchasing administration.  I could also work from home using my laptop and fulfill any typing, invoicing, etc.  Would appreciate any feedback of of any companies that are looking to hire.

Many thanks

Without wishing to crush your dreams, unless you are going to start your own company, your chances are zero.

There isn’t an awful lot in the way of companies down here that would require that position and any such position will first go to family and friends, after that, a “native Spanish speaker” will be given preference

You may have more luck in that type of position in one of the cities - perhaps Alicante which has a large English contingent .... but in Mojácar and surrounding areas? I’d have to say not a chance

Certainly don’t give up hope - but also as long as you know that it is .... “different” ... here.  There is high unemployment to start with and Covid hasn’t helped; there are a lot of experienced wait and bar staff now looking for new contracts and jobs will nearly always go to family and friends first. I mention this as Bar / Waiter work has been a good “go-to” in the past when looking to work, irrespective of your talents .... now? Not so much, and coming out of what passed for high season this year, many of the bars, chiringuitos and hotels in this area close.

It may serve you to investigate a TEFL qualification - teaching English as a foreign language, as there is still work to be found for English teachers and in this area native speakers are valued.

My son did TEFL (English as a Second Language, now) through Liverpool or John Moores Uni, remotely (online) which cost about £250 3 years ago and took about a month.  He may have ‘bashed it’ as he ha finished his degree.  However, he told me that such jobs (possibly only through the sites that advertise work) in Spain were much sought after and some experience was necessary (eg teaching) but if you were to look for such work from here, that may be easier.  Just fyi, he went to Vietnam, now in his 2nd year and loves it.
