Yes if only for winter South facing but older properties are not insulated . We built our house and made sure there was a DPC, unheard of in 2002! and our walls have double skin with insulation between Its cool in Summer and warm in Winter, I hear so many commenting on the cold and it’s miserable so ,it’s really down to how old the property you buy is.  Best advice is rent first.   Mojacar is wonderful and we tried to keep it secret lol till, Sun Sea and selling houses.   You will Love it .

Hi. Mojacar Playa is wonderful in the winter. Most restaurants and bars still open but the crowds have gone. In fact, so much nicer than the summer tourist season.

Vera Playa is much quieter out of season. We rented there before we bought in Mojacar and loved the area near Buganvillas as the beach is beautiful and it's an easy walk into Garrucha. And even though it's very quiet in winter there are still places open.  ...

...

There are also some lovely inland areas not far from the coast you may wish to consider.

I would advise to rent before you buy just to test the water and see which area suits you best

Bloody cold!!! But that's only indoors, we have a north facing house, lovely in the summer.....

We've taken to going out through the day to warm up, the coffee is cheap and the sun shines (most of the time)!

Would we go back to the UK? Never.

Just be prepared, when it's cold it's cold.

Hi we are close to retirement and thinking about living in the Mojacar or Vera Playa areas. What is it like over the winter months for life, restaurants and general living? Any incites much appreciated, t

If you want more for your money then look at Los Gallardos/ Huerta Nueva areas. Just a short drive to Mojacar but plenty of bars here. and it is all so well looked after by the mayor and his team. I take it that it is just for winter.... no way with Brexit that you with get a residencia now unfortunatly.

Agree with all the above. When it is hot it is very hot. But as soon as the Sun goes down the Temp takes a deep dive.

We have rented in Vera Playa and are very happy with the shopping and restaurants that where open right through the Winter months. Garrucha is only a few minutes away by car and Vera the same. A bus connection to both if needed.

Consum & Mercadona supermarkets are also on our door step.

But it is extremely cold indoors when that Sunny Sun goes down.

None of these rental lets have any sort of insulation. As I suppose, it would cost more and who needs it during the summer months.

So expect to freeze indoors when the sun goes down. You do have the option of turning up the electric heaters if you can afford the cost. When we do buy, we will be looking at a South Facing property with an indoor fire/burner. Carpet on all the floors. Insulation on every window. And possibly an extra entrance door to stop that artic wind from blowing in.

I'm sure at the height of Summer it will look excessive. But come winter it will be a god-send.

But still I would not swap it for the world. It is a beautiful place to live.

“Who needs it through the summer”. , South facing lol.   Insulation is every bit as important in summer . It keeps you cool, instead of paying to use aircon!

The op didn’t say it was  Just for Winter, asked what it’s like in Winter.   also,   why do you say “no way with brexit will you get  residencia now” ?  Are you assuming something here?

I was referring to the builders of these rentals. Adding insulation is an extra cost to them.

And as they are sold, as primary Summer Holiday homes, why bother. I have lived in Scandinavia and know the value of insulation.

If I was building my house from scratch it would have a Nordic Insulation Spec as a minimum;-)

In older properties yes but there are regulations for builders nowadays and they don’t just build for Holiday rentals! So as I said ,the older ones have the problems.

Neil, you will love it. Shorts and tee shirts by day and warmer clothes from 4.00pm. Plenty to do and plenty to enjoy.
