Hi we are close to retirement and thinking about living in the Mojacar or Vera Playa areas. What is it like over the winter months for life, restaurants and general living? Any incites much appreciated, t
Neil, you will love it. Shorts and tee shirts by day and warmer clothes from 4.00pm. Plenty to do and plenty to enjoy.

not this week Mathew air con heating on blankets over knees (because it heats High not Low) cold wet and miserable but the sun comes back next week fingers crossed. we are glad we kept our thick coats and gloves at times like these.
We have just bought in Mojacar Playa. It is very much quieter in the winter but there is still plenty open. There seems a greater proportion of Brits here in the winter. The weather is still good, with the odd cracking day (22degrees last Monday). It does get cold in the evenings though, especially indoors.
You pay more in Mojacar but things are much closer so you can walk or jump on a bus much easier. Go for it, the best decision we have made.

Hi
The best thing to look for is a South facing property as it makes a tremendous difference in the winter.
As Paul has written South facing is a must. We live on the Costa Blanca and our house faces North East so great for summer but awful for winter time. This year we decided to buy an apartment on the Playa to use for winter time. We made sure that the balcony was South facing with the benefit also of a roof solarium. We spent three weeks over Christmas and New Year and it was brilliant. Even when the temperature was only 14 - 15 degrees the balcony was really warm. In fact most days we were sunbathing on the roof if not too breezy. A huge change to our house ! Also helps to warm up the inside of the apartment letting the sun in.
As for life in general, some cafes / bars were closed for holidays so tried other ones which we might not have tried if others had been open. Can honestly say all were great. Surprised how many were even open on our Christmas Day morning walk. Even though we live on the coast every visit to Mojacar Playa feels like you are on holiday !

Hi. Mojacar Playa is wonderful in the winter. Most restaurants and bars still open but the crowds have gone. In fact, so much nicer than the summer tourist season.
Vera Playa is much quieter out of season. We rented there before we bought in Mojacar and loved the area near Buganvillas as the beach is beautiful and it's an easy walk into Garrucha. And even though it's very quiet in winter there are still places open.
There are also some lovely inland areas not far from the coast you may wish to consider.
I would advise to rent before you buy just to test the water and see which area suits you best
