Just wondering why it is not allowed to use my internet bookies account to have a bet on horses running in uk . I have always kept horses and enjoy the odd bet and trip to my local racecourse. I was here for a month including when Cheltenham was on . In my mind the best national hunt meeting anywhere . The only way I could place a bet was by contacting one of my daughters to put a bet on for me back in the uk . Ok as long as they weren’t on a phone conference ,etc . Before you all start saying I shouldn’t advocate betting. I know there a problems with gambling and people get hooked on it . Bulk of it being the casino style betting . Back to original question. Why can’t I use my internet bookies account . People use the internet for a lot worse .
probably because the betting company are based in the UK as you can't enter the Omaze win a house either or enter the UK lottery unless already registered the terms and conditions usually state UK residents only. Strange for a country obsessed with different lottery and the Once scratch cards gambling is not allowed in Spain like Bingo for instance a harmless game of fun to us Brits but the police can stop it if money is involved.
I agree with what Devo says. But, there is a way round contact with betting firms in the UK and Ireland. I don’t know the way but some people running bars in Mojacar have internet communications with the like of Paddy Power Organisation. Likely, it’s an illegal contact so I’ll say no more (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). However, I’m looking forward to Aintree.

You need to use a VPN service I use surfshark and 'connect' to a GB/UK provider, this makes the websites think you are in the UK

Hi Matty,
a VPN is a Virtual Private Network what it basically does is ;mask; your IP address it changes your location if you like,
there are a load of different ones available some are free with limited options and some charge on avg £40 a year and you can install it on 3 or 4 devices
I use Surfshark which I paid (I think) £40 for the year
others here
I tried getting a ticket for the Lottery a few days ago and their website kept coming up with, you are outside the UK, nope I am in Suffolk so logged on to Surfshark chose a UK server and then got the ticket

ok until you want to claim any winnings and then proof of residence in UK might be difficult.

@Matthew if you want to go the VPN route please avoid the free ones, they are not all that secure and they also slow down your connection.
@Alicia when you win you can have the opiton of paying the winnings into the account you used to open the betting account. So if you have a UK or Irish account no problems.
I beleive you can also use Revolut or N26

I use vpn oneclick when in Spain to connect the iPlayer and other player services. It’s a paid for service but once registered you can pay for a month’s use if that suits a holiday period or longer if you are resident.
