Well good luck to all that pay out for lessons medical, theory (can be done in English) and practical exams only in Spanish. The practical examiner I had was outwardly racist, rude mannered, refused to speak coherently and to top it all, after 10 minutes shouted her head off at me!!!

I paid out for 14 lessons and could understand my instructor perfectly. After 36 years driving it is just a matter of losing the bad habits really. Well not as the case may be from my experience.

Hi Lottie

Who was your instructor as we are having problems finding an English speaking instructor around here in San Juan.

Thanks.

Does anyone know what the consequences would be if you were stopped by the Guardia with the new ruling? Just wondering...

I have read it will be a €500 fine and immobilisation of the vehicle. Not good 🙁

If you live in Spain , you should have a Spanish licence … the same applies if you live in any other country other than your own , you can still drive to Spain on hoilday with a Brit licence , or go

To the post office and pay 10 pounds ( in the uk) get a driving permit for Spain. …all this is common sense you live in a country you follow there rules …....

...

Are you saying if moving to spain you can buy a permit to drive in spain without test etc or is that just for going on holiday?

As I have said if you live in Spain you should have a Spanish licence. .. and. It’s only if you spend time in Spain 3 months I think it is .. then the option I have said works … the licence lasts for 12 months and is renewable ..

Hi. I'm a Irish citizen but drive on a UK license. Is it the license or the nationality of the driver that matters

Mike and Vera, your passport grants you freedom of movement, unfortunately your UK licence means you’ll have to take the test.  It is the nationality of the licence that matters, not the nationality of the passport holder
