Don’t forget some of us Gents, as there are a few of us in the same boat - I must admit, not many!

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan,

Don't worry we will let you come out with the rest of us when I finally arrive and we set a meeting up :-)

Hi Sandra,

Spain is a wonderful country with so much to do. Properties inland are not only cheaper but generally larger. I live up in the mountains about an hour away from the coast, which gives me the tranquillity but never too far from entertainment. I have found the English speaking people in the village...

...s always very helpful and kind. I decided to buy a new car when I first arrived and to give you an idea of budget, 3 bed house plus furniture and white goods together with car and all fees etc approx 80.000 euro. The roads are really good with little traffic. I find the heat on the coast too much and for too long; in my area (Chirivel) its a comfortable 25-about 30 in the summer. with if you are lucky snow at Christmas.

Good luck with the move if this is the route for you.

Paul

Hi Paul, many thanks for your message. I’m pleased to hear you have a found a nice place to settle etc. I don’t want to be inland I would find it to isolating on my own. I want some life and buzz around me and more so I find I need this having been in lockdown in a semi rural area where it’s extremely quiet and I have to drive to get to shops etc. I don’t want the expense and upkeep of a car so again need amenities in walking distance. Whereabouts do you live as you’re hoping to see snow?
 Best regards Sandra

That’s great :-)

Hope things are moving along, according to plan. I am here and the weather is fab. Managed to get a flight on Friday!

Great to be back!

Take care

Hi Sandra, yes, its always a balance between inland/cheaper and very little to do, or coastal/more expensive/more to do, and prob more English speakers too to communicate with. Whilst a lot of people say you should communicate with the locals and speak Spanish too, i fully agree with that, but there is nothing like being able to communicate with people of your mother tongue at your tempo (then again, you coming from Manchester, dont speak pwopa English anyway :) )

I , for one are really looking forward to your thoughts after say, 6 months of living there, having gone through a winter etc. Must admit, i dont read too many negative comments from people on here though tbh. Seems like everyone says its the best decision they have ever made.

I'm hoping , that if my online business kicks off, that i will be there end of 2021 - thats my aim, anyway.

Good evening,

just gauging if anyone is or was interested in playing tennis, squash or go to the gym, as I’m trying to understand where the nearest sports centre in the area is?

Firstly I would like to thank the people who run this site and all the people who take their time ask questions and reply I find it a great help and insightful. I'm 61 and single and live in the North West of England work full time and earn a below average salary. I'm hoping to retire when I'm 64...

... and up to now Mojacar is where I want to relocate to. I will fund this by selling my home in the UK and buying cash, I will of course be totally funding the first two years from savings before I can draw my state pension at 66 (don't start be on that subject) I'm not looking at buying a car as I can't justify or afford the expense. To carry on living in the UK I would either have to carry on working well past my retirement age to be able to own my car and my house and have 1 holiday a year or I would have to downsize considerably and to a different and not so good neighrbourhood , plus put up with the awful climate which gets me down. It would be great to know if there are people who have been in a similar position as myself, made the move and how they are getting on, what obticles they have come across if any, how they have settled in etc.

Best regards

Sandra

Congratulations on the commencement of your new journey and new life abroad.

Hope all goes well and you have fun whilst going through the process (it’s great once you look back at what you have done and achieved on your own) 👍

Best wishes

Dan
