And rightly so!

Hello

Can i just put a matter straight.I have not stayed more than 90 days in the 10 years i have had my apt in Mojacar and have no intention of staying over 90 days in the future as i still have a business in the UK.

I though it would make an interesting conversation, but did not expect to be jumped upon.

Hi LI81SKY

Yes you are right i did not expect it i just thought it would create a interesting debate.I was wrong there as anything brexit related has two sides.

I do think that the Spanish Mayors and people in office and with businesses up and down the Costas after a difficult 18 months are starting to realise that this 90 day rule is starting to cost them money so a few are starting to speak out it.

Just as an aside, I caught sight of the following elsewhere - it adds a further dimension to the more than 90 days request:

“Re people wanting more than 90 days in one visit are they aware that travel insurance policies although annual only cover 3 months stay ? Therefore if a person does not have that cover after the first 3 months and they then only use the new EHIC card this does not cover lost luggage cancellation repatriation in the case of illness or death. For people with existing health conditions people have been getting quotes for 90 days sometimes in the region of 1000£+. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade just a bit of reality, dont shoot the messenger 🙄 I would never want to go abroad without travel ins cover . Never have.”

Hi Dario

You hit the nail on the head as to why i have not stayed more than 90 days in any one trip,my annual travel insurance does not cover me for any more than that.

The thread I saw it on suggested that should it be allowed, insurance companies would move swiftly to change the terms and allow longer - HOWEVER - it was also mooted that premiums for a 180 day stay would also rise exponentially

I agree sky.its my point exactly.but I'm still paying tax on my property there I haven't even seen 4 over 2years.never mind all the bills I pay.but I also understand the resident's point of view also.why should they pay all that money out and jump through hoops...and some people on here are trying to cut corners and find loop holes to stay longer than the 90 day rule.

I think the issue is … why should England be treated differently to the rest of the world?  Why does England feel it has the right to have special treatment by Spain in particular and the EU in general?  Why should a myriad of laws be changed and agreements drawn up just for England? (Notwithstanding that UK governments track record with agreements isn’t looking so good right about now) That’s the real question.
