I forgot to say take a cool box on the ferry with you as the food is either expensive or limited or both and there are microwaves dotted about near the bars,

Having said that on the Finistere on deck 10 is a decently priced food area that do/did an excellent beef bourginon

Good to know and great advise - I do not like to miss my meals!

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to respond.

Cheers. Brian

Oh.  We thought the food on the Pont Aven (Plymouth to Santander) was of acceptable quality and reasonably inexpensive.  As was the wine.  For some reason, Brittany Ferries give a better deal if you pay in pounds rather than euros because apparently they set the exchange rate once per annum and stick with it!

Hi is the PA the one with the 'self service' style restaurant if so yes that is not too bad but the Finistere just has an A' La Carte or sandwhichy (both expensive) type place.apart from the little food hall on top deck.

It will be interesting to see the menu's and prices for the Galicia

Hi,

Thanks for the response, yes I have looked in more detail since I wrote the post and I believe Portsmouth Bilbao or the Eurostar across (under!) the channel may be the way to go.

Very worrying though if they are turning people away who have a reservation!

There are strikes at Bilbao currently so the sailings are being moved to Santander

Hi, we where going to do the same drive this month but could not in the end because the boarders between the different areas where closed, so you can not drive from Valencie  province to Murcia for instance. So well worth checking on this before you book your travel. We are now hoping to be going in January.

All the best,

Trevor.

Hi Brian

We are moving over from Peterborough (hopefully) before the end of the year. Just waiting for our sale here and purchase there to be completed. We were over in Spain a week ago and managed to drive without having to show evidence of where we were travelling to. We did carry our NIE, contract of property purchase, email with Solicitors appointment and proof of hotel booking. I’m not sure what was being implied about the ‘boarders’ being closed as there were no physical boarders. As we understand it, as long as you can prove you have a valid reason to be on the road, between 7am and 22:00 you will be ok.

Have you started the process of getting your residency?

Just to confirm from our experience the euro tunnel and driving through France is the only way to avoid to PCR issue and time scale.

Take care and safe journey

Victoria

Hello to you

Just to say that  Portsmouth to Santander/Bilbao is the best by far.    Crossing is great.  And only about 550/600km to Albox

It is a much longer route via France

Hi Victoria,

We are in HUntingdon - just down the road!

Yes - it looks like driving through France is the way to go, with the PCR requirements.

We hope to be off around 5 December, how about you guys?

Are you taking the train or ferry?

Waiting for the removal men right now ro arrive as we have to be out of our house by tomorrow - we have rented in Orton Waterville for a week whilst I finish off work here.

Good luck with everything.

Brian.

Morning

Spooky we are in Longthorpe.

As soon as we have a completion date we will be on the train through the tunnel. Most certainly before the end of December.

Did you manage to get a better cost for moving?
