If you transfer GBP straight in they will charge you, irrespective of how much you transfer.

Use a service such as Wise to receive your GBP, convert to € then transfer the € into your bank account.  You will not be charged for a large transfer using that method

My neighbour deposited a large number of euros to his Spanish bank account and received a charge. He never got it back. Better to email the bank and confirm. It costs you nothing sand gives you  peace of mind.

If the bank charges you for that, they’ll sting you for everything and are probably best avoided

You may not know that your bank charges for this. My neighbour had no idea. It was a large amount, the bank manager said it should have been negotiated. It's not done in the UK as far a I am aware. So better to ask than have a shock.

You probably don;t need to read this:- You can get a NIE number in the UK by making an appointment in the Spanish embassy or Consulate. In the UK it'll cost you around £7.00 and there may be a delay of up to six weeks before the NIE is received by you. 

You can contact any solicitor in Spain and likely you'll be charged around €100.00 (I'm open to correction) for the service and likely it will not make the deadline of 30th April....
