Hi

My Mojacar bank is adamant that they know nothing about charges being capped at 3€ per month from March 25 th and are still insisting on quite a heavy quarterly fee.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Having the same experience ?

Got some hot advice ?

Many thanks.

Hi,

La Caixa is still charging 12€ per qtr.

At the end of the day you have 2 imponderables, Banks and Spain.

Also it takes forever for any Central decision to permeate downwards.

Why not just change.Bank if your fees are horrendous? Better in your pocket than theirs.

Posters on here always asking about Banks with no fees. La Caixa is 12€/ qtr. plus 39€ pa for their card which we cancelled.

Do most of our Banking offshore.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

According to a news broadcast back here in the UK, the 3€ account is only for those who are deemed vulnerable, likely to be excluded from the banking system or in extreme poverty. Apparently it won't be generally available to everyone.

If you have a Sabadell bank branch locally then we recommend it. Free banking (and translation of short Spanish documents if you need this)  as long as you are residents and have an Expansion Current account and pay in 700€ each month. That just means that sum entering your account in toto, you don’t have to keep it in the account, we’re often down to less than 100€ and use Transferwise to top it up as and when with cash from our U.K. account.

Incidentally Chrisso, a Sabadell employee also said that if I was short of the necessary money going into the account, I could withdraw say, 500,00 € from my account at the ATM and immediately pay it back in via the ATM and that would then count as “income” for the purposes of meeting the 700,00 € threshold.

Have been with Sabadell since 2014 and am very very happy with them
