So Lyn now has the monopoly of who should "stay in the UK" and those who should come to Spain. When I post giving my opinion(s) to people thinking of moving to Spain, I do so in a way that would help and be of advice. Dario and Truenudist are kings in handing out their free advice regarding the lengthy red tape that is required before and during the move to Spain.

Anne, as is her right comes here to ask advice and is told by Lyn who has made the move to Spain that she (Anne) should "stay in the UK."

May I suggest that Lyn and her co-lovers of feeding feral cats and refuse to clean up after them buy and supply hand sanitisers to those of us who do clean up after them. Or do you want PAWS to pay for them?

Has anybody any ideas of how to prevent cats from soiling my flower beds?

You can try scattering orange peel on them - cats have an aversion to the citrus, (but it is non-toxic to them); you have the added benefit of the peel breaking down and feeding the soil.

The other method I have used to prevent my own little princess digging up around my Chilli plants is to lay river pebbles (available from garden centers) on the beds and around the plants. Cats like nice, softish soil beneath their paws ... they just don’t dig pebbles (scuse the pun)

Hi Dario,

I've tried the orange peel in the flower bed trick along with lemon peel but they were not effective. I've even tried that anti cat gel + an array of sprays which were ineffective too.

Another neighbour suggested I put down some chicken wire flat on the soil and cover it lightly with clay. I never heard of this method, but would welcome views if somebody has tried this.

That could well work - anything that upsets kitties digging feng shui should protect your flower beds.  If there is chicken wire down .... yes - possible.

The only thing I’ve tried that I know 100% works is the river pebbles

Truenudist and Matthew, what disgusting people you two are. All my cats are neutered and chipped and bother no one. I suppose you two think you are funny, I find you both pathetic, Matthew I suggest you stay in Ireland, your not welcome here, and Truenudist, I find the thought of you hanging your bits out   make me want to chuck up. If you two dont like cats, or any animals b y the sound of it go find a desert island and live on it together you deserve each other.   Dont bother replying, I have no wish to listen to another word you have to say.

Jenni.

YOU are not the arbiter of who may and may not come live in a country in which you yourself are a migrant.

YOU are also not the moderator of who may and may not have a voice on the forum.  I would suggest you bear this in mind.  Should you find a topic uncomfortable, simply press “unsubscribe from this topic” and no more shall you be the recipient of views you find unwholesome.

No-one - NO ONE has suggested any harm being caused to feral cats, and have only discussed openly and frankly how to alleviate the issue that is caused when well intentioned but silly people take it upon themselves to provide a source of food to ... a wild animal.

Feral cats are NOT kitties.  They. Are. Wild. Animals.  If they are provided with food, they become a nuisance.

I am a cat person - very much so, but even I agree with Matthew and Truenudist that feeding feral cats causes a BIG problem (and lots of smelly smaller problems) that no one wants to clean up.  Everyone wants to feel sorry for the “kitties” but no one actually wants to clean up and care for them once they have taken the step of trying to domesticate A WILD ANIMAL!!

And lastly Jenni, your personal feelings towards naturism are of little relevance or bearing to this thread - please keep them to yourself.

Why resort to personal insults? And if you think I am not going to respond you are wrong.

The forum is supposed to be a place where rational people can discuss issues of the day with informative and constructive dialogue and politely without being abused.

I am not going to criticise you for your thoughts because you are entitled to them just as much as the next person. I might ask you to re-read ALL the posts on this thread because you have obviously mis-read some of them.

As I have said before in this forum people are judged by what they write. Possibly you would like to explain to the Topic the reason for all the support that Matthew, Dario, myself and others have received.

I happen to believe you ( and Lyn ) are well out of order.

I have personally written a letter of apology to Anne for the behaviour and comment from Lyn.

regards,

Back to the issue:

All my plant beds have that black plastic under pebbles, mainly to stop weeds (as it’s a holiday home). My neighbour has cats.  They use the garden to play in when we are not there.  The pebbles must work because I’ve never found a ‘gift’ probably because cats like to bury it.  Lots of dog sh*t on the streets nearby though.

1. So now Lyn and Jenni think they have the sole right as to who should enter Spain or not. So a few years after ridding Spain of one dictator, we now have two.

2. All I ask is (a) If you feed feral cats you (b) Clean up after they've dropped their faeces. Do you think these people could manage that if they are so feral cat loving?

3. The citrus avenue has failed along with anti cat spray and get to keep the feral cats from our flowerbeds. Is there another way? I don't expect PAWS to pay as like many I'm not a free-loader.

3. Truenudist to his credit has apologised to the original poster Anne because of the pro feral cat posts which are vitriolic to say the least.
