Good morning! We are residents in Spain and want to know how we can register at a medical centre, we are not pension age and we are not working, I thought you needed one or the other to qualify and we cannot afford private medical insurance. T.I.A

In order to be legal residents you need private health cover if under pension age and not working.

Yes we took out private medical cover for just one year so we could get our residencia, but then cancelled the policy as we cannot afford to pay that amount every year.

I agree with Jack,  you are technically breaking the law, you can pay a private doctor for small things, but if say you broke your leg and needed hospital treatment you would have to pay to go to a private hospital, not cheap!!!!. Good luck.
