That's strange because I have never had a problem with Transferwise - which is my only account in the UK now - and my transfers to our Spanish account take at most about 2 minutes. There must have been some reason why they were blocking your transfer so it might be worth talking to them to find o...

...ut what the problem was. They are a very good & reliable company in my opinion.

Rob
Los Gallardos

From what I can gather Rob the transaction was deemed suspicious because I gave a reference of "Saba August" for the transaction. As a result they suspended the account until they had carried out some checks.

Following a written request I explained to them yesterday that Saba was short for Sabadell.

I have no problem in them checking transactions, it is just the length of time it has taken to complete them.

I rang them on 3 consecutive days to explain that I needed the money (£250) transfering quickly to my Spanish account with Sabadell. This issue could and should have been resolved quickly. The fact that it wasn't suggests to me that the company is not very responsive to customer queries.

Transferwise have today apologised for the delay and offered me a free transfer up to £300. However, it does not alter the fact that I wanted the money transferred quickly and they let me down badly even after repeated calls to resolve the problem.

If this could happen to me it could happen to any of their other customers.

Regards

Richard

we use Torfx for sterling to Euros and have done so for 4 and a half years , their rates are the best i can see as i do still look about, and the service is fantastic if you contact them initially by phone you will get a point of contact ours has always been Hannah Wilson and she explains how to use their system online , it is so easy as we are not very good with computers and can do it no problem, if changing sterling to euros then Currency Direct give a better rate

but if it is Sterling to Euros then Hanna WIlson at TOrfx is your best bet

they have made our life so easy as we moved to Spain full time and need to bring in our private pensions

good luck

I use TransferWise these days as you are in control of when it's best to change from sterling to euros or vice versa.Used to use Torfx which were ok but you are at the whims of when they transfer funds....
