Re payment of council bills.

Sorry, I can't answer this apart from water where we pay Galasa every 2 months by direct debit which I thought was the normal route for utilities. For the other bills/taxes I use my lawyer to sort this out, but to save quite a high lawyer's bill it would be useful to know if there is an online site where it could be done directly at lower cost.

When we purchased the Mojacar apt our Solicitor arranged transfer of utilities as part of the one off fee. We have subsequently changed from Endesa to Nordic for electric and that was via their www.   For IBI we went into the town hall and gave our Bank Details etc. This is paid by DD as is water, basuras etc.

No idea about outstanding bills as.one would expect that to be explored at time of.purchase.

We spoke to both Nordic &'Galasa in English.

I have a house in Los Cerricos, not far fron Chirivel.  We come under Oria town hall.

For council tax or IBI I just went into Oria town hall, they gave me the bill and you can then pay it a cash machine.  Just follow the instructions on the screen for bill payment, you scan the bar code and its as easy as that.  They can also advise if any debts outstandingf from previous owners which should have been sorted at time of purchase but usefull to have clarity.  can also pay car tax in the same manner.

Water and electric paid by direct debit to town hall and endesa respectivley and bills are sent to me by email in advance.

Its all very efficient really.

I did expect a seperate bill for waste/rubbish but have never had one so not sure if its included in the IBI bill in Oria.

Hi Jackie. Our water bill comes by post every two months, from Hydralia, paid by DD. Our electric bill also comes by post every month, from Endesa, also paid by DD.

There used to be a lady that would help expats with any questions in Chirivel, she had a room in the town hall, I believe on the last Friday of each month, I don’t know if she still does this? 

Look for a notice outside the town hall, or maybe pop in and ask for Pauline.
