We moved out to Albox area a few months ago, have property & NIE numbers...my husband is retired but I'm not. We called DWP in Newcastle several weeks ago & received our S1 forms just this week. We took them to our Spanish solicitor who advised, when we are eventually registered, I w...

We need to provide our marriage certificate & P60's for the current year as proofs of earnings/pensions & then sols can do all the paperwork for us to register. We have been told that registration can take some considerable time so are considering private insurance until then. DWP were very helpful so would def get their advice & from a Spanish solicitor if you have one or CATS as suggested above

Thankyou so much, very helpful indeed made things a lot clearer.

Sanitas Health Insurance ,great company very quick on everything if required.

Self employed, to be self employed, for  the first 6months it's only about €60 per month, the rafter the cost is increased, in you continue.

Sorria Bonillia in Mojacar speak English and are very clear on what the costs are, as a lot of people seem to think that it is exspensive from day 1 but that is not correct, ask from a registered Gestoria

Hi, we've been here 2 and a half years living in a small beautiful little village called Urcal.

Our local doc took us on her books with no problems, the Spanish health care system is very good. We had blood and urines done and sat down with Rosa who speaks no english so you will need a translator, be advised most doctors will throw youre google translate in the trash given the chance !! Our doc went through all our uk meds and sorted out the spanish equivants. You'll pay 10% of the cost of a prescription which is stored on youre medical card, we've had new meds prescribed both at hospital and doctors, driven into town, huercal overa and the new meds are already there!!

We had to go do a bit of leg work, the local clinic, the office of social security etc to get medical cards.

You will need the S1 mentioned, this is proof of pensionable income for the pensionista, we are both retired but have friends under pension age who have private medical.

All the other stuff like NIE's you should get on purchase of a property and through youre solicitor.

I agree with what you have written, Inwould just add that most Spanish doctors, surgeons, solicitors etc. are very sympathetic if you try and speak some Spanish, just a bit more in your vocabulary that ordering a beer.
