Hi All
Which is the cheapest fuel in the area. We are looking at getting a 2 litre SUV type car, which we will bring with us when we move over.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Currently diesel.is cheaper BUT according.to the media in Jan 2019 Spain is set to impose a pollution tax.on Diesel of some 35%. As diesel is currently selling about 115-120c/l it will be far, far more expensive than Unleaded.
Hope that helps in planning.
Best Wishes,

Thank you much for taking the time to respond. It is what we thought.
Can’t wait to our home in U.K. & be over in Almeria.
Once again many thanks.

That being said, diesel motors are far far more fuel efficient than petrol, so it may balance out ....

Hi All,
Then whatever you do don't buy a Mitsubishi L 200. Not only the worse crewcab we have ever owned but the 2.5L is underpowered & you can watch the fuel guage dropping.
Have a great day.

Mines only a 2005; certainly not underpowered though. Had an ECU tune which pushed power up to 160 HP

Look into getting a vehicle equipped with LPG, there are a few gas stations around that do LPG, Lorca and Vera being two, and the cost of a litre of LPG is a miserly .60 cents or so, we mulled over bringing my last vehicle, an lpg/ petrol Fiat Ulysse people carrier but brought partners petrol electric Honda Insight hybrid instead.
Rumours of the Spanish government imposing a huge 35% levy on diesel when pollution by diesel cars isnt a problem of the magnitude of say the M25 corridor and larger cities and towns would be met with protests and demonstrations country wide. The Spanish wouldnt stand for it.
Diesel can be had here for around €1.14, petrol around €1.26, up to €1.36 and even with 35% levy on top it's still not going to be a monumental difference in the comparative cost of the different fuels, better to check the stats on any proposed new vehicle you purchase, wouldnt ever touch the likes of older pick ups, Fords seem to be less fuel efficient, do youre homework.
Petrol or lpg
