I'm travelling from the UK can I get breakdown cover from Spain to cover me can somebody help me please

You can get European breakdown cover in the UK but a lot only cover you for 30 day trips. We used Saga for insurance and breakdown and they gave 12months cover for both. We now have our UK plated car insured through Liberty Seguros in Spain which covers us for breakdown too.

Hi mate we have just arrived in almeria from the uk no you cant get recover but I went online in uk and got full European cover from nova direct and it only cost me 47 english pounds to cover me for a year . We have n nie no for spain n my insurance and recovery is cheaper in spain than in england . Abbey gate ins here in spain

If you intend to drive your car in spaiN u can if it is covered in uk first to drive through France or ferry sandender Bilbao.  U can drive this car for 180 days only in Spain. Not sure about France. If you get caught doing more than 180 days in Spain they will impound your car. Maybe give u a big fine and maybe crush it.  It all depends how many days over the 180.  It is not a yearly allowance either.  The clock ticks from your first day and you can have multiple trips backwards and forwards. 180 days will put you at risk if they clock you from day one

if you intend to move and live here you can have the car registered. In Spain and get a Spanish plate for your car before the 180 days expires.  They will charge a percentage of the brand new cars value and it is also charged on the engine capacity   

So if you want to live here for more than 180 days you also need residential to get a Spanish liscence.  Residential is a whole other story.  Asof 2020 we all need residentia.    Different regions may do different things as well and the Guardia or local plod can do most things that they want.  In Spain if you have a Spanish car insured here, breakdown is covered across Europe and uk at present ,not sure what’s going to happen to that after 2020 . We call the grua  (AA  RAC) in Spain and he will at least take your car to a garage   They are very good     It is all included in the cost of the car insurance   Same as if you have an S1 card for Spanish health care system ,I think you are covered in uk  again it looks like this will be reciprocated but watch this space   We are fast approaching end of 2020 and they want the brits here so they may bend over backwards to keep us   Over 300000 brits have holiday homes here and I would say that a lot more have  bought
