Baz3009 beware the little brown envelope now as the taxman in Spain has got there spys everywhere and they will clobber the buyer and the seller with big fines if they find you've underpaid for a property on paper.

Alicia I’m very much aware of what you say, however it still goes on, not in huge denominations but as the saying goes “every little helps” I’m in no way promoting tax evasion or dishonesty but in today’s trying times it happens. One only has to visit the big supermarkets and see local bar and cafe owners with trolleys laden with beer wine and spirits to grasp the fact that they are obviously not ordering from their brewery/wholesaler. Having been in the pub business I’m confident that the proceeds of such purchases will not be declared and thus taxed. Deals are done on loads of different levels in spain and will continue to done. There is a risk to be taken and consequences if caught. All part of life I suppose. Wouldn’t dream of doing anything like this myself mind. Stay safe.

No- not that I'm aware of. But I'm fascinated by the subject. And I know some folk would be shocked to discover this so thought I'd just mention it just in case.

I own a place in nearby Garrucha.

There is a book called “ one of our H bombs is missing” all about the Palomares project, goes into every detail including the lawsuit that Paco the fisherman from Aquilas that took out as a salvage claim for millions of dollars. Very good book to read if your interested in the 1966 incident. Some excellent photos in it too. No mentions of the five legged three armed two headed glow in the dark people running around the village though. You’ll have to visit Palomares personally to see them!

Its not a bother to me...doesnt concern me one bit..

Im just in the process of looking at different places in Almeria but the current disaster isnt really conjusive for looking at property..fgs.

Is that why property prices in Palomares are so cheap compared to other towns?..

Any and all information is appreciated.

Regards.

David..

Forgot to say the books by Flora Lewis and there’s a second hand one on amazon for 6 dollars. It’s a hardback. Out of print now so a rare item to have. I would lend you my copy but it’s in my place over there and I’m in uk atm.
