I'm looking at property in Hacienda del Marques and in the area generally and would appreciate any thoughts positive or negative.  It would be for us (a retired couple) and our children and grandchildren to use.

May be able to view this month.

We are familiar with the area, having rented in Vera Playa last year off season, next to the lagoon and we did tour around.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts particularly estate agent and legal representative suggestions.

Hi there, I live in the Cala Marques urbanización, just off Avenida de Villaricos.

It’s peaceful in the Winter but I would ensure anything you buy comes with designated underground parking because in Summer the roads are jam-packed with parked cars and very little in the way of roadside parking can be found.

The area is definitely booming as can be seen by the large amount of construction opposite Frankie’s Bar and in Avenida de Palomares where three VERY large houses are under construction with space having just been cleared for a fourth.

Gets a tiny bit noisy for a week in July when Dream Beach is on, and you get a fair amount of drunken, stoned teenagers wandering the streets but the Guardia Civil have a massive presence there.  That being said I’d heard the land on which Dream Beach was sited had been slated for development of a hotel and 1000+ apartments.  Who knows? No development has started yet … I believe the organizers of Dream Beach are currently undertaking a legal bid to stop that development for “ecological reasons” (it hurts their pockets, which are made of fibre ergo …. )

Anyway that aside, access to the beach is good and we are right on the boundary where textile meets naturist so you get plenty of both.

With regards Estate Agents I’d suggest Valerie at am3 in Vera, who speaks fluent English, French and Spanish - please contact me if you’d like contact details.

We bought a 2 bed townhouse on Hacienda del Marques 1 four years ago and it was a great decision. The earlier reply refers to Cala Marques development which is a different urbanisation on a different street. Www.angelproperty.net have a house on our development for sale at €89900. We don't have any parking issues and dreambeach has never affected us. Happy to answer any more questions you may have

Hi there

We have owned a two bedroom townhouse on Hacienda del marques 1 for two years and have been out to stay several times at various times of the year to get a good idea of what it would be like to live there before we make the final decision to move there permanently, we have just got back from a two month stay.

It is a quiet, well looked after complex , the pool and communal grounds are very clean and tidy, there is currently a comprehensive painting program ongoing where almost all the properties are painted pool side , once this is completed the properties will be painted road side .

The people we have met who live on the complex in our experience are friendly and helpful and are more than willing to give you tips on anything you may need ( on our last visit we were introduced to a great air con installer)

There is an English owned bar just a few minutes walk from the complex called Oasis,it has a good friendly environment, serves good food ( fish and chip Fridays, steak and ribs on Saturday,Sunday lunch as well as various other dishes all through the week) and has a great quiz on a Sunday evening ,Oasis is also another great place for tips on places to visit, people to know in the sense of various trades ( plumbers, electricians, painters etc).

The village of palomares is nearing completion of a road and paving renewal project,it’s looking very smart , there are various bars and restaurants in and around the village square also banks, a chemists a butcher a bakery a fantastic hardware store and three supermarkets the largest of the three at the top of the village by the church, a short drive away in Vera playa there are various bars and restaurants also a big supermarket called consum , a mercadona supermarket can be found towards Vera town (pueblo) , a little further away in garrucha there is a Lidl.

We have not regretted our decision to purchase a property on hacienda del marques 1 and look forward to moving out permanently in the very near future,I’m sure you won’t regret buying on the complex either.

That's really useful and comprehensive, thank you. We're still not quite at the decision making point, but forum members help had been much appreciated.

Take a look in the local areas up to San Juan one way and Mojacar, Turre etc the other way.  You will get a feel for the area. Also look 10 minutes inland as property can be a lot cheaper. Grupo Plstinum will take you out and about so that you get to see other areas and different properties.  Many of the other agents are also happy to do so. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for that. I've visited Mojacar and stayed in Vera Playa before, so have a reasonable idea about the area.
