We are planning to buy in the area soon but require a good Internet connection.  When I visited a few properties I saw the internet supplied through a little satelite dish.  They were getting download speeds of about 8mbs and upload speeds of about 2mbs but occasionally had drop outs. 

I've  seen adverts for local suppliers offering "up to" 25mbs but,  "up to"  means somewhere between zero and 25. Hence I hate the term "up to"!

Has anyone had real experience of this or checked the speeds.  If so I'd be very keen to know your experiences. Www.speedtest.net will run a good free speed test if you haven't already done it. 

I guess it is unusual to get Internet through fibre optic cable unless in a big city. Am I right?

Being English, I am used to the idea of getting a full structural survey carried out before buying a property. However, estate agents in this area tell me that this is unusual in Spain. 

Hence I am now uncertain how to find out the condition before I buy. 

Has anyone addressed this? Are there local surveyors?

I'm planning to buy a villa in the Arboleas area and have spent a long time trying to find a convenient bank. 

I do not mean that it has to be geographically close as most banking is electronic.  What I am looking for is a bank that issues a simple current account for a non-resident,  will have so ability to speak in English,  and not try to sell health insurances etc that I do not need. 

I have approached Sabadell  bank,  as their website looks impressive and several expats report good experiences,  but I've only found people who do not return calls, arrange times to talk and then are not available,  or are too busy to speak to me, so I've had to give them up. Maybe this is just bad luck and there is a helpful branch somewhere. 

 Others mention Santander or LaCaixa and I would be very interested to hear of these or anyone else that is satisfied with their account. 

Hi. We are moving to Arboleas in June 2016 and are not of retirement age yet. Can anyone suggest a good healthcare company to use in Arboleas region? Has anyone signed on to the convenio especial as apparently it gives you access to state healthcare for a monthly fee. We have been given letters from Newcastle letting Spain know we are no longer entitled to healthcare in England and was told to take them to the local social security office. Any help on this subject would be greatly received.

most of us in los colorados and surrounding villages use john the pool. he is very good and knows what he is doing. his prices are very reasonable too. We are renting property in Torrevieja Alicante and woul like to n¡know what banks  are available in village ,also,as we are non drivers is ther any bus links to larger towns  ie for shopping.It would seem a nice place to live,are there many clothes shops  cafes etc in village.Many thanks for any help.
