We are planning to buy in the area soon but require a good Internet connection.  When I visited a few properties I saw the internet supplied through a little satelite dish.  They were getting download speeds of about 8mbs and upload speeds of about 2mbs but occasionally had drop outs.

I've  seen adverts for local suppliers offering "up to" 25mbs but,  "up to"  means somewhere between zero and 25. Hence I hate the term "up to"!

Has anyone had real experience of this or checked the speeds.  If so I'd be very keen to know your experiences. Www.speedtest.net will run a good free speed test if you haven't already done it.

I guess it is unusual to get Internet through fibre optic cable unless in a big city. Am I right?

Hi there,

You are quite right about fibre optic!!

Arboleas town hall internet is very highly rated and many people sing its praises. As for speeds I think they tend to be 15-25mbps download.

We are not in Arboleas but consider ourselves lucky to get 15mbps down and 2mbps up. This is more than fast enough for everything but downloading DVD or Hd movies. Streaming apps, tv programs etc is no problem with this speed.

Technologically in this area we are a little behind the UK but possibly no worse than rural areas over there.

My two cents.

Paul

Thanks for your comments,  very interesting.

As I run a small IT business I might need a bit better upload speed,

Do you know if this is an option with Arboleas town hall,  and do they have a website?
