Will63, You have my greatest sympathy. You're about to fight one hell of a battle that you will lose. I agree with every word you say, but when birds/animals are involved there are many who will take the side of the animals (especially dogs and cats) and not care a whit about you or even your wel...

...l-being. Don't be lured into believing all you hear even from some of the posters on this thread because with them it is always the animals/birds  that will come first.

The dogs are barking. I note (and don't blame you) that this was added after the aviary and rats issues. Perhaps you're wiser than what I am giving you credit for?  Your uncaring neighbour cannot tell the difference between cats and rats - Give me a Break!. And your neighbour won't even clean up his yard!

Here's My Advice:- (a) Use your phone/camera/video-device to film what is going on. Record the noise too. You can never have too much evidence. If you feel any way threatened go to the police station and report the matter. (b) Talk to your neighbours as some of them are probably of the same opinion as you. The more support you get, the better.

Going to an animal organisation that is there for the protection of all things animal is useless as they have no interest in your situation. All you'll be doing is giving them ammunition for them to shoot you with.

If you don't believe me have a look at other threads on this forum regarding uncontrolled dogs, feral cats and so-called animal lovers. Incidentally, I own two dogs and I am in full control of them at all times and exercise them every day where it is legal.  I don't inflict my dogs on others.

Also, don't be surprised if some contributors here will want this thread (or part of) deleted.

and here we go again blah de blad de blad.  Opinionated waffle and not one constructive comment.

Keep with the truth Jenni. Nobody can argue with the truth. Not a very objective or constructive post from you, was it? By he way which part was "waffle"?

If it is apparent the birds are being mistreated or kept in conditions injurious or harmful to their health, then the people to contact will be SEPRONA, the division of Guardia Civil tasked with animal welfare.  They are very VERY proactive, more so now that Spain has introduced some very pr...

If the issue is solely with the noise, *and not the conditions*, you may receive little sympathy from the Ayuntamiento who will likely remind you that you chose to live there, with the birds already being there.  However, from your post, I believe you are concerned about the conditions the birds are kept in, so SEPRONA may be the way to go.

Did you not see the aviary when you viewed the property! I’m at a loss as to why you took on such a property knowing you had an aviary 10’ from your bedroom window.

Sam, if Jenni had posted that I'd be sitting here with my eyes rolling upwards and asking God to mercifully aid my hard won sober Irish patience, but somebody asking that nobody should buy property in Spain because of animal/bird issues!  If that were the case, hardly a property would be bought. In our urbanisaion we have a lady who feeds feral cats as far away from her apartment as possible within the complex. We have others who have several dogs/cats (as in 7 or 8) and their animals are out of control most of the time. If you raise a word of protest you are immediately howled at to "return to the Yew Kaye."

Most animal owners, like me, are caring people and we always act in the welfare of the dog/bird/cat. But, the so-called animal-lovers who place their pets on a pedestal above humans are the problem. Nobody is safe from them or their actions.

Incidentally, while exercising our dogs in Macenas beach yesterday I met a lady who had read the posts on this thread. She didn't believe she was speaking to "Matthew" and now she knows she was. I should add the lady is a genuine dog lover and made quite an effort to get to a beach where dogs can be exercised legally.

Did you not think 🤔 it would be a bit of a problem before you moved in?
