We will be moving to Spain in Nov/Dec 23. Hubby has an Irish passport and me UK only. We are ok with everything we have to do apart from what we need rot take to prove income and savings. Do I need to get any bank statements and/or pay statements (civil service pension) to prove this, and if so do they need to be signed or stamped by the bank whilst I’m still in the UK? I just don’t want to delay anything as I want to get it sorted asap when we get to Spain so that my aposilised marriage cert doesn’t run out (I know I have 3 months). TIA.

Hubby just needs to show cert from a bank that he has around 9.000€ available.

When you apply as dependent I believe you’ll have same financial burden so if it’s a joint account, same cert should suffice

Thank you for replying. When you say a certificate, what exactly does that mean? It won’t be a problem showing that amount for either of us, but what exactly do I ask for in the bank? TIA.

Bank should be able to provide a signed “official” certificate of financial holdings or similar - basically it’s a letter that says that on ‘n’ date, your account was in credit to the amount of ‘n’ € / £ and/or that over the previous year your average balance was ‘n’ € / £

2 points to note:

  1. That letter MUST be in Spanish therefore if issued by a UK bank you will have to get a certified translation.
  2. Any certificate produced for the purpose of residencia must be less than 3 months old - this applies to all documentation such as Padron etc.

Also if it's a Spanish bank be prepeared to pay a fee Sabadell charged me 25€ and I had to wait 5 business days for it to be ready.

The Policia Nacional will not accept a copy of a statment.

We are in Spain awaiting to move into our house early next week. We are virtually the same as you in that my wife has eu passport and me a UK one. To open the bank account we just provided documents showing what and where we had money. Our solicitor organised this. Our residential applications are in early stages as Spain, to a degree, closes down in August. Nie numbers have been sorted by our solicitor. Nearly got our padron. Ask if you want to know anything else as we are probably 3 months ahead on our proverbial journey

Hello,

my wife and I are Italian citizens and in the process of getting the residency.

We were told you need to show €15K at min on a Spanish bank account for a couple.

And the printed and stamped bank certificate has to be from the day you’re gonna sign the residency application.

Before that, don’t forget to do the padron as a first step.
