Hi all

Have been to see my solicitor today with reference to my residencia, Almeria appointment next week. I asked her about my driving license and she is adamant that it is not a straight swap as I’ve been reading everywhere for residents, still reckons I will need a medical.

Please anyone know the correct facts as I suppose things are getting updated all the time.

many thanks Steve

Medical blood pressure, eye test nothing out the ordinary.Plus a simple test, little gadget where you have to keep within the the lines of the machine.Photo for license needs to be smaller than passport.Me and my wife paid cats services to arrange everything.

Oh most importantly you need to have your uk photo copied and stamped by Townhall. So you have proof till your Spanish one comes through.

To change or renew  your license there are Medico centres that specialse.  eg  156 Paseo Malecon in Garrucha.

You need to take your old license, passport in some cases.any medicines you are taking.  At this centre they all speak English should you require. There will be a list of questions address,NIE etc, then an eye test and medical check up from Dr.  Lastly all information collated, photograph taken payment of €50.  You will be given a cover note for your license which will be sent to your address.   Mask obligitory and gloves which we were not informed about beforehand

Hi we went to Garrucha in the evening 2 weeks ago they took blood pressure and gave eye test wanted medication info. Very nice lady we were both in and out in 35 mins. Took paperwork to Gestor in Mojacar they said we needed to have residency before we can change license. They only work in Garrucha Mon. Thursday and Fridays 11.30am - 2pm and Tuesday and Wednesday 5pm-7.30pm. The phone is 950 460 630  and 626 634 351. English is spoken. Hope this is helpful our appointment for residency is for 20th Nov so after that we will apply to change license.

Re my answer to Garrucha Centre I was renewing my old license as a resident otherwise as stated before you need your residency before license.
