This subject deserves a post unto itself. I had already opened this discussion under the thread "Boris Johnson." and I wrote after some posters thought I'd lost the plot:-

"No. It's coming from an Irish press report of today complimenting Mr Johnson. Personally, I think Boris has at last seen the light (along with Mr Trump). Finally, I think there is much good coming out of the UK regarding Covid-19 because in the past few months what we were getting on a daily bas...

...is was nothing short of false propaganda and people in power ignoring the intensity of the virus. The UK seems to be turning a corner and let's be grateful for that.

Some of us have been saying that here for months and receiving criticism for informing readers of the truth. So credit where it is due, Mr Johnson is on the up in my opinion.

On another subject but related for the record the R figure in Ireland is now 1.10 at best (still too high). 40% of our new cases are travel outside of Ireland related."

If you are serious and think Johnson is doing the right thing when Spain has just recorded

2 covid deaths and U.K.119 you haven't thought about the probable cause for his only quick

decision on covid (all the others have been from x y z date etc.) he is doing is best to hinder Spains

effort to try and salvage something from all the lost revenue that tourists bring  and no doubt

he will begrudge them their share of the billions of euros the E.U. nations are to get to help

them cope with the aftermath of the pandemic, the man is a proven liar and his thoughts on

the British working class are well known which makes it amazing that so many working people

voted for him, ditto his friend over the pond.

First of all I think boris was wrong about Spain , but disagree on other things in the uk it was Marxist corbyn or boris. Now imo the choice was limited ( the others had no chance ) and no one in there right mind would vote for corbyn he cost the Labour Party for years he could not even beat a weak old tired mrs May ...now most of his hopless party have said ( now he has gone ) he was the wrong choice for leader ...no country imo has got it right on the virus .. not one has all the answers. The scientists all disagree with each other  China is still ( probally going to cause more trouble with virus,s).  And no one yet has found a cure oxford university are close I believe  even Russia are trying to nick the formula. ..imo boris is a front a mouth piece the public voted to leave he was the only one who wanted to so he got in on that but it’s run by the people behind him. Every PM has and will make mistakes but like all of them he will be judged on the next few years ...

Closer than you think on the vaccine.  Rovi here in Spain has signed a manufacturing and distribution deal with an American company who are currently doing clinical trials and seeking FDA approval.  Rovi have stated they hope to be putting first batches out just after Christmas.

I understand that’s the stage the American company are at as well; Rovi say Jan ‘21 because any vaccine will need European approval as well as FDA

My husband and I were over last week to view a property we are thinking of buying. On arrival at Murcia Airport we had temperature checks, visible health checks and had to show our contact QR codes or complete forms. Only then could we proceed. Coming back to the UK at Stansted? Nothing. Absolute...

...ly nothing.  No contact forms or temperature checks - in fact not even customs checks. We were appalled.

I thought it was shocking that no checks were done either at Gatwick airport When I flew in from Spain on Sat 25th...theres was literally no one about...anywhere!! The form I had filled in wasn’t asked for & the gentleman sitting next to me on the plane hadn’t even filled one in!! Terrible & then the U.K. introduces quarantine again. Spain has been very thorough when I arrived at Malaga, no one could get through without having filled a form in & temps were taken.

Having checked my travel insurance policy, I have decided to continue with my planned trip to Spain next week. Having booked last year, I am relieved to find I'm covered as usual apart from CV disruptions, as long as UK Government doesn't change from essential travel only to no travel advice. I have an EHIC card.

I believe that there are people travelling without insurance to Europen countries as they had booked their holidays before the advice changed.

Airlines won't pull flights to avoid having to make refunds and therefore hitting their cashflows.

This maybe my last holiday abroad for goodness knows how long.

Let's hope things do improve or there won't much of a travel industry left meaning countless unemployed.

Have now returned to the UK after a successful stay.

It is a rather surreal experience to walk down the street naked apart from footwear and mask, or face nappy as I call them. Seems crazy when out in the open walking on the beach to have to wear a mask, for with my limited knowledge, there is very little risk of catching the virus outdoors.

I don't believe VP was as busy as last year in August, not surprisingly.

Returning to the UK there was no check of the form required by HM Government, so feasibly could have walked through customs and nobody would have been the wiser where I had returned from. I could have also avoided the two lonely weeks of not leaving my house of self isolation. However, the airline may have been required to give up its passenger list if there was a need. Honesty prevails. I haven't got £1,000 to be caught out.

To add insult to injury as it were, of course the British typical cantankerous weather has induldged itself with grey skies. Why do British people go to Spain? Answer in one!

Finally, I feel very sorry for the apartment and business owners of Spain's tourist industry who are losing out.

To those contemplating on still going to Spain and yet to travel and can afford two weeks self-isolation after then go.
