Hi sharon65,

Can I please ask if you have pre-existing condition  with Santander thank you..

Hi I haven't,my husband has and it isn't covered under their policy. I think whoever you go with will have exclusions unless you pay a lot.

If you were resident here you could go to the public clinic for your exclusions and use the private for everything else. Just check that you are covered for public service as well.

Hi All,

We are hoping to relocate to Vera Playa when lock down is released.

We have took early retirement and are 57 to 60 years old.

We want to get residencia and live there permanently.

But i am concerned about how much the Healthcare is going to cost us.

I don't want it to eat too much into our expected budget.

How do we get cost effective health insurance, all input and help will be welcome.

Or another way of putting it how much should we budget for health insurance ?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers

Martin and Karen.

If you are retiring, are you not able to get an S1 form from DWP?  If you can, then that effectively “transfers” your existing NHS health cover to Spain and you go onto Spanish health system,

Failing that, if early retirement doesn’t grant you that, then you won’t need private health for years and years - after one year of legal residency, you can go onto “Convenio Especial” which gives you health cover on Spanish health system for a very much subsidised price - far cheaper than health insurance - so really you would need private health for the first 14 - 18 months (allow 4 - 6 months to get Residencia and so start legal residency)

Once you have been here 5 years and are a permanent resident, you qualify automatically for Spanish health system

Hi, I am trying to get cover for the first 12 mounts so I can get my residencia but have been refused because because of my crohn's disease, and Global health are too expensive over 400pm, and my S1 only covers me for 4weeks has am 55,

No I don't think so. As, long as you have private cover, I think that's okay. I don't think they check what it covers.

We have had residencia for a few years so they could have changed the rules.

Hi

Sorry I can't be more help. I am sure someone on here will have more knowledge about all this especially any recent changes.

Are you Irish or English?

It's just I think there will be some agreement for English people for a while anyway. Whereas the Irish don't even cover us in Ireland for most things 😂

That agreement lasts only up to 31/12/2020, after that, UK is a third country and your passport gets you no special dispensations.

Irish passport all the way - will allow for a much smoother Residencia process
