Hi All,

We are hoping to relocate to Vera Playa when lock down is released.

We have took early retirement and are 57 to 60 years old.

We want to get residencia and live there permanently.

But i am concerned about how much the Healthcare is going to cost us.

I don't want it to eat too much into our expected budget.

How do we get cost effective health insurance, all input and help will be welcome.

Or another way of putting it how much should we budget for health insurance ?

We moved to Vera Playa last November after taking early retirement. Our health insurance cost about €1800. If that's any help.

Yes, for both of us. Asssa Seguros. www.asssa.es. we used Maxine Morgan at Las Buganvillas, very helpful.

Hi Martin

Sorry late with reply, have been out on my bike. Maxine is an insurance broker.

Yes, we have residencias, solicitors sorted it all the paperwork out, made the appointment and an interpreter meets you in Almeria and sorts any problems out. Cost €180 each

My wife and I also took early retirement and we went with ASSSA through Maxine in Buganvillas but you can go direct to the ASSSA office in Vera town (alant gave the email address).

A few points to consider about private medical insurance:

1) Check where the linked private hospital(s) is located, the ASSSA one is in Almeria city (Vithas- Virgen del Mar) or Alicante.

Having said that you can have some of your tests done locally, as well as see a local contracted in doctor or dentist. We had our eye test done recently and we had to go to Almeria for it.

2) They will exclude pre-existing conditions unless you can come to some sort of agreement with them, therefore if this is the case then best to go directly to the ASSSA people and don't go through a broker.
