Solar panel advice

I fitted solar panels when I bought my property. 12 panel system rated at 5.4kw, plus a 5kw battery that is charged first before any energy is fed back to the grid. I'm with Iberdrola and they pay me 10 cents per kw sent back and some energy is stored in a virtual battery for me to use. TBH I'm not entirely sure on this as it was just added to the contract. When we are out in Spain we don't use much off the grid and when back home we are feeding at least 15kw per day back into the grid.

I reckon it will take 5 to 7 years to recoup the initial outlay, but it gives me great pleasure to see that I'm not using the grid much.

You also need to check the potencia on your contract, it may need uprating to stop it tripping.

It is more likely that your fuses are tripping because your potencia is too low. If so, you need a qualified electrician to arrange to up your potencia with your provider. Also bear in mind there has been serious spikes in supply in the area, although it is better now, it seems. 

I bought a 12 panel system without a battery -it can take 6 months for the grid to accept you although we got it in 3. Our potencia is 5.5kw. ours is a large property 300sq metre and our last two bills averaged €5. I reckon 4 years to recoup the €7000 investment. We use the Ibredrola solar plan

For solar we would recommend Ecocorp Solar based at Antas industrial estate. English speaking and will arrange everything for you including a increase in your potencia. Best thing is there is no hard sell and the after service is second to none. They use a virtual battery system so no need for the added expense and room required for real battery storage. We went from almost 200 euros a month to twelve last month including three aircon units, pool etc. 

We got the same system and a great level of support from Fontalmonzora for about €1500 less and they speak English

I would have to agree with 'Cornbeef', Ecocorp Solar provide a great service, they will arrange the upgrade of the potencia and carry out all the paperwork.  Very slick and efficient service.  Our system for 14 panels set us back euro 7500 3 years ago, best investment we ever made,  the electricity bill plummeted. Estimate the payback to be within 4 years.  There are a number of suppliers out there so it would not do any harm to shop around and obtain 'like for like' quotations.  The Ecocorp 'Vitual Battery' is most certainly worth looking at.  Best of luck.  PS our property is some 350 m2 including a 10m x 5m pool which we able to either heat or cool as required.
