I have been asked to bring a van back to the UK by a friend. It is still registered in the UK but the mot and tax have expired but is insured , serviced and roadworthy. Does anyone have any experience driving through Spain and France with a pre booked mot when I land in the UK.

No test on a car makes the insurance invalid.

If MOT and tax have expired it's illegal to be on a public highway

Pre book a MOT close to port of entry. You can drive a vehicle without MOT to a test centre as long as it’s pre booked. Then tax online soon as it’s done The only problem could be if it fails

If you're stopped in Spain or France your vehicle is illegal. It is not insured either as technically it's not road legal.

Andy listen to the advice. Whatever country you are in you’re in trouble. Think about if you have an accident.
