We're also considering this specific area, based solely on remote viewing at this time, and looking a few years into the future.

Planning to get over in summer 2023 and looking for a villa or house for a couple of weeks in Cabrera to try it out, but finding it surprisingly difficult to find any!

The local agent, Vida Cabrera/Sierra Cabrera Living, no longer do holiday lets.  Are there any agents in particular I should be looking to, or where else should I be looking?

Hi

You will find properties to rent in Sierra Cabrera on VRBO, AirB&B and Simply Owners, but if you want to specifically use an agent try Blue Sea Villas in Mojacar, they also deal with rentals in Cabrera. Good luck :)

Having had a holiday in the peak Summer time (August) a few years ago we experienced fly issues (Mar Menor area)  We stayed on a golf resort  opposite an orange orchard and had a horrendous time with the flies. This quite frankly ruined being able to sit outside let alone eat and the pr...

...operties had no fly screens. We constantly had flies landing on us and although my hubby is very tolerant, on this occasion he was pushed to the limit. I personally wouldn't contemplate being anywhere close to  water including golf courses (mosquitos  love me) or  orchards. Also, I have heard you should avoid goat/sheep/pig areas too!

We are now rejecting  viewing any location that may have an issue regardless of how lovely the property looks. Just our perspective.... I'm sure others may beg to differ.

However, I can see the benefit of a screen like you mentioned!

Hi. I think in the summer months most areas have problems with flies etc. I find that obviously fly screens on windows and doors keep out any unwanted visitors...I have a large outdoor kitchen and eating area. The flies drove me crazy. I installed a ceiling fan above the eating area and table..het Preston..no flies. Apparently they do not like the movement of the air caused by the fan so stay away. Honestly, this does work. Hope this helps

Have a look at Huerta Nueva by Los Gallardos..... you have views of the Cabrerra without having to travel 10 minutes each way if you have forgotten the bread!
