Why is there a lot for sale in the Moorish development just outside Turre - 16 replies

APC1953 Posted by APC1953 in Moving to Sierra Cabrera: tips and advice on Fri Mar 29, 2024 5:52pm

Looking for a holiday home. Just wondering why there is so much for sale in the moorish development. I have seen that properties in the area can be very cold outside of sunshine hours in winter months despite the agents saying min 20 degrees all year round. Perhaps solar panels would offset the high cost of heating? Also i have learned it is much cooler the higher above sea level.  Forgive my ignorance as I really don't know the area at all and wondered why there is quite a selection of properties  available.

Cortijo Cabrera Village - 11 replies

Steveb911 Posted by Steveb911 in General Sierra Cabrera discussion on Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:53am

We are interested in buying a property in the Cortijo Cabrera village complex but are finding information on it rather scarce.

We plan to live there 6-9 months of the year.

Are there many permanent/semi-permanent residents there or is it primarily a holiday let type resort?

What sort of facilities does it have in terms of bars, restaurants, shops etc.?

How far is it to Turre or Mojácar and how long does it take to travel by car?

Are the roads around there of a reasonable standard?

Can you get decent broadband there?

Would you recommend it as a good place to live for a semi-permanent resident? We’re both retired but still pretty active, still running, swimming, cycling etc.

We want a quiet life but would like to have closeish (walking) access to some facilities though recognise that more comprehensive facilities will require a drive.

Any information would be gratefully received!

CaraRose1977 Posted by CaraRose1977 in Introduce yourselves in Sierra Cabrera on Sun Dec 31, 2023 4:14pm

Hello. We are Mike and Cara, US expats currently living in Bordeaux. We are working toward a dream of eventually living in Spain. We recently bought a home in Alcazaba, and I will be there the second week of January to do the little things that will make it a nice vacation home.

If you have any advice for contractors or life hacks on the mountain, we would love to hear them. If you love painting ceilings… be sure to drop by! 🤪

An accountant - 3 replies

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good accountant in the Turre/Mojacar area. We are looking for someone who can complete our annual tax returns and 720s. It would be nice to have a client centred accountant.

Were buying a villa on C. Oliver Alto in Sierra Cabrera and wondering what the broadband options are there. It's close to the arches in centre of the village. Any have any recent knowledge of this?

Renting without first occupation licence - 3 replies

jgpmcc Posted by jgpmcc in General property discussion in Sierra Cabrera on Mon May 15, 2023 5:14pm

We are buying a property in Sierra Cabrera but have just been told that you can't rent out your property ( at least not short- term) without a first occupation licence. Is this strictly enforced by the authorities as I believe lots of the properties have an issue with the developers and there is a stalemate over getting these licences. There also seem to be quite a few properties on Air BNB, for example.

Dear all

We’ve somehow managed to lose a large bunch of keys! There is a large hook keyring with several keys including a BMW key.

Reward for anyone that finds them 😊.

Cheers,

The road from mojacar to sierra cabrera - 1 replies

chrissy11 Posted by chrissy11 in General Sierra Cabrera discussion on Sun Mar 5, 2023 1:43pm

Hello everyone. I have lived in the alicante province for 9 years but have always loved the mojacar area and visit regularly...I am putting my house up for sale to hopefully move close to mojacar. On a recent visit I was going to travel up to the Sierra Cabrera as I have always wanted to have a visit there. I was told that the road was not good and my car was too low to travel on that road....so my question is...what is the best route from mojacar or turre to the Cabrera. Will a normal car be ok to travel in. Thank you in advance for any help on this topic

Can anyone recommend: Blacksmith - 0 replies

lisalacey66 Posted by lisalacey66 in Recommended Tradesmen and Companies in Sierra Cabrera on Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:24pm

Hi again.

We’re now looking for a blacksmith that can make a very large gothic candlabra to hang from our ‘dome’. Nothing ‘from the shelf’ is large enough. Any help appreciated. Also, does anyone have the local builders name and number? Cheers, Lisa. PS. Is anyone going to Alicante on the 29th?
