I am wondering the same thing.
I think l heard that metal detectors have been made illegal in Spain.
It's probably because any finds (treasure or archaeological items) belong solely to the state here in Spain.

I've read that it's illegal in Andalucia but I've also read you can apply online. So I don't know what to believe.

Most definitely illegal in Andalucia, but you *can* get a permit. Be prepared for a lot of bureaucracy and several months wait.

Hi guys, asking from a slightly different perspective - I have lost my phone on the beach. I thought I knew the general area of where it would be but after spending 4 total hours digging around in the sand and burning to a crisp in the heat I've given up. The problem is I have pictures and videos on that phone that are very very dear to me that I've just realised are not backed up online. Does anyone know how I go about finding someone with a metal detector or renting one myself? Surely it would be legal for such a purpose? The worst part is that I can check the connection to that phone online via find my device (it's an android) and it shows the battery level and the connection. It is online and alive (for now)... I just can't find it in the sand.
EDIT - happy to put up a cash reward for the phone (tbh it's about the data that is on it and not the device itself as I have insurance), if someone is able to help I would pay. Please reach out.
