If you speak Spanish, call the social security office in Huercal Overa and book and appointment.

You will need your residencia cards & photocopies

Passports & photocopies

The paperwork of proof of residencia

You will be given paperwork to take to Pulpi medical centre where they will give you another piece of paper with a number on it which will be your medical number, you can use that until you receive your health card.

I hope I’m right as it’s been a long time since we did ours.

If you don’t speak Spanish employ a translator.

Try googling inss and then use the online portal if you look in the top right of the  screen where the vertical lines are it will give you 'idiomas' ie languages.   You can get the site in English.   It's a bit clunky but should be able to register you documents.   The INSS will e mail you their forms with a barcode.   Print this and take it to your health centre who Wii register you.

However,  3 months on still waiting for my card🙄🙄

I went into my local medical centre with all my paperwork including my S1 and residencia card and they added me onto the Spanish system and gave me a letter with my Health Service number on there and then. They said my health card would be delivered to my home address within 2-3 weeks. It didn't arrive so when I went into the centre to see a doctor I took my letter with me and they rang and ordered me another card. That also has not arrived so I guess I will have to go in yet again although the main thing is that I am on the system with my S1. It's a lot easier than having to go to Huercal Overa to get registered. Hope this helps.

I went into the Mojácar Medical Centre. When I was first looking into what I needed to do I thought I had to go to Huercal Overa. I would definitely try your local doctors practice first. It’s such a big learning curve isn’t it. Good luck!

Hi Namu

I used the link on the Gov.U.K. Website and submitted the forms online. My Spanish isn’t good but I used google to translate then submitted the forms. I had all the paperwork scanned and sent it alongside. I’d made loads mistakes but I was allocated a named contact and she helped me get it right. It only took a couple of weeks and cost nothing.
