Just collected a small  parcel from the Post Office and was charged €7.80 .They wanted NIENumber, Passport,Phone No and  e.mail address, and no receipt was given. The customs declaration was complete, saying it was a gift and contained sweet biscuits, fudge and a drinking mug, total value €10.50...It was sent on 17th July, well over a Month ago...UK postage was £10.20p.

What a post brexit ripoff.!!!..

No more parcels for birthdays from now on..Our Post Box provider said ours was the  45th parcel THIS WEEK that they had handed with money to pay on collection at the Post Office.

Beware..

we had a parcel delivered 20 euros as it said gift on it and a birthday card cost 5 euros again it said gift on it from the sender in the UK , these were both recorded delivery , so we have asked our friends and family to send only normal post, and if it is not recorded delivery as in a parcel the sender must state what is in in and the light fingered staff just keep it as they know it is of value

feck Britex not one person of the normal type is winning anything out of it

Hi David. It’s just starting to rain here. I only mention this because I was wondering what this phenomenon is called on your planet. “Wasn’t his fault “ ha, ha, ha.

The question is; if it was a gift and under the EU limit for a gift (€45) then there is technically no customs clearance and therefore what are Spanish post office charging for, unless they charge just for handling but I wouldn't think so. So someone fluent in spanish needs to find out if there is a handling fee by spanish post for gifts under€45 (gifts has the meaning from individual to another, not commercial transactions).

You are welcome Pete36. I need to learn Spanish to give a better answer.
